A recruiting consultant at IMG Academy says your division level matters: MLS Next players get recruited more than NAL or NPL players, but IMG won't edit your video or email coaches for you. Soccer recruiting is subjective, so contact coaches early yourself.

I'm a junior, I play IMG Academy, I have a 3.7 GPA, I play right mid. Can I play Division 1 college soccer? So first of all, it depends what level of IMG Academy. There's NAL level, NPL level, and there's MLS Next level. If you're playing MLS Next level, you would think pretty easily, hey, of course you'll be playing Division 1, it'll just go right into your pocket. Well, IMG is amazing, truly, truly amazing. The level's amazing, the training's amazing, it's one of the best out there. But unfortunately, and I love IMG, they're not the ones editing your videos, they're not the ones going through every email with you, right? You have school to do, you have soccer to do. If it was up to me, they would have a whole other department only towards recruiting, which is frankly what I do. So we've had over 50 kids from IMG come through with us and get help from our social media and from me and working with us. And soccer is different. If you go to IMG basketball or baseball, you know, statistics play a big role. Basketball, there's not that many players on a team. Soccer is way more subjective than that. You'll have one player on your IMG team who's going to go to the best school ever, like one of our students is at Duke. and then you'll have another kid in the IMG team that's going to go to NYU, which is an incredible top-5 school. And another one of our students actually is doing the same thing, and they both were playing at IMG. What you need to do is get a hold of the coaches when you're at those organizations early as possible, because they will eat you alive. They will love you. They just don't know you, and that's partially your fault. If you want more help playing college soccer, give me a call. Links in the bio. Talk soon. Bye.
