A center-back should lead their highlight video with positioning and passing, not tackles. Show your lines, ball control, and recovery pace. Tackles come last because coaches expect them anyway.

How should you structure your every-touch video as a center back? This also goes for highlight videos pretty much for the most part. So first thing is we do not want to see your tackles. Do not show us your tackles first. It does not appeal to college coaches. First of all, doing tackles is like you standing up. They expect you to be able to make tackles. That's obvious. And not that it's not impressive that you make an amazing block, but it tells us very little about you. If I had players make a block, I know nothing about any of them that really warrants any recruiting. However, if I see one player pass the ball and another player pass the ball, immediately I have an opinion. So make sure you show us you're lines first. Have the ball at your feet and you wait till you draw pressure, and then you make a pass into a center mid or into a striker. Then show us your pace. Then show us your recovery pace. Recovery pace for college coaches as center backs is the biggest thing after the ball, because they want to know like whether you're going to be going against fast strikers and do you have the pace to keep up with those fast strikers. So show us your recovery pace. Then after that, you can show us some tackles after that, but not until then. If you want more help playing college soccer, give me a call. Links in the bio. Bye.
