Call me link in bio

College coaches send generic emails to many prospects mentioning tournaments they attended. Respond politely asking if they're recruiting your position and class year. If they confirm interest, attending their camp is essential for Division I programs to get evaluated in person.

What is a semi-genuine email? Meaning it feels like maybe it's genuine, but maybe it's not. So an example of a semi-genuine email would be if you received an email from Brown University and they said to you, we really enjoyed seeing you at Surf Cup. We'd like to see more of you because we didn't get to see enough of you at the tournament. Here's our ID camp, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So it's possible that they did watch you because they knew you were at Surf Cup, but they probably also sent that to a handful of other kids that were also at Surf Cup. So we call that semi-genuine. There's some genuineness to it, but a lot of it is robotic. So what we recommend is you kind of treat that like a generic email and you basically follow up and you say, "Dear coach, thank you for your email. May I confirm you're looking for a blank for the class of blank?" And then you just add, "Thank you so much for your time." You don't really say anything else. The reason being is you want to see if they actually, you know, are looking for your position. They've sent you a genuine email. Do they actually like you? You can even be more aggressive and say like, Did you watch my video? And if so, do you want to consider me? But I'm just telling you, college coaches don't respond to that very well. They just won't respond at all because in their head they're going, well, if you want me to watch a video, I'm still going to tell you to come to camp. So why would I watch a video? But if you're asking about the position, then they're like, oh, well, you know, we're, you know, um, we are looking— we're not looking for right backs. Okay, great. They'll tell you the truth and you can move on with your life if you're a right back. Or you're— they say yes, and then you go, hey, look, I got to go to camp. They got to see me in person, especially for D1 schools. Even if I didn't love their response, if I want to get recruited, you got to go. If you want more help playing college basketball, give me a call. Links in the bio. Bye.
