Stop bragging in outreach emails. Saying you're fast, strong, or a great fit sounds arrogant and unverified. Instead, be grateful, stick to concrete facts about what you've done, and let the evidence speak for itself.

If you talk about how great you are in any fashion— I'm really fast, I'm really strong, I'm a great fit for your team— you come off as, frankly, excuse my language, a cocky prick. And the reason I say that is because while you might be very strong and you might be a good fit for their team, you have no idea. It's a relative comment. You might be really fast against people that suck. You might be a really good goal scorer and a fit for their team if you were in charge, but you're not in charge. So what you need to do in these emails is act very grateful. So instead of saying, I think I'd be a good fit for your team because I'm fast and strong and a good person. I work hard, like every other kid says. Just give the facts.
