A Division I soccer player at CSUN traces his path from LAFC SoCal through LA Surf and Del Sol in Arizona, including a gap year in the ECNL. Coach Terry spotted him at a Silver Lakes showcase game, leading to his recruitment and current roster spot.
Recruiting story. This gentleman's playing Division 1 soccer. Tell us where you played your youth soccer.
Played LAFC SoCal and then LA Surf and then also Del Sol out in Arizona.
Tell us how come you moved a couple different clubs.
Well, during COVID we weren't playing out in California, so my dad headed out to Arizona, played at Del Sol, didn't really find traction over there, and my mom was still living out here in California, so we moved back, went to LA Surf again, wasn't finding traction, played over at LAFC SoCal, played for Brian Calabian, now the coach at AV Alta. Uh, he liked me a lot, played 2 seasons with him, I took a gap year after high school to play an extra semester of U19 ball, and that's what ended up being— where did you take your extra semester?
When you played U19, was it UPSL, or where did you—
I just played another year because I was '05. I could play another year of, uh, just U19 with ECNL.
Awesome. And let's say right now, tell us the Division 1 school you're at now.
I'm at CSUN right now.
And how did CSUN find you?
Uh, a lot of it was Terry being at the games and then just playing well in front of him.
And Terry obviously is very— a great coach and is in the SoCal area. Where did he see— was it a showcase? What— did you email him?
It was at a game down at Silver Lakes playing Patio Doors was the game. He talked to me after that one and that's— and I got my visit after that.
