Zev Taublieb evaluates Emilio Hernandez's soccer recruiting prospects, saying Division I is possible but Division II and III are more realistic. Coaches need separate highlight reels, full game footage, and a self-interview video. The recruiting process involves building a school list, attending ID camps with invitations, emailing coaches weekly, and setting up social media, with Division II scholarships typically around $20,000 per year.

your diagnosis, the coaches do want to see a good player and you're playing at a high level. So Division I to me is not out of the question. Division II is very realistic and so is Division III. In saying all of those things, the reason it's important is you need to get the interest sometimes of Division III schools in order to get the interest of Division I and Division II. Now going to back to your video's format, which is what you guys described maybe needing help with, Yeah, there are some issues. You know, your initial video here is not what coaches want to see. It doesn't tell you anything about you. Huddle's fine. Sometimes there's some issues with huddle. They have to run a commercial before they watch it. So this is fine. But the point is what you have here is a combination of a highlight video slash every touch video. This is not enough to what you both have already said. We need separate every touch videos. We need a highlight video where we have more moments. I'm sure you have them, or if you don't, I will help you get them, meaning I'll watch the game with you and say, here are the moments we need. To both your points, I will make the videos for you. Your son talked about writing the emails. We have a tool that will help with that process, but I will also tell your son which schools to email, how to email them, when to email them, how to respond. We kind of do, we do all of it. That's our job. So all the pain points you have, when I think about us being a right fit, I go, okay, based off of the level, I don't think it's unrealistic. Based off your goals, I think it's possible. Based off what you're struggling with. I think it's something that we do— we're good at. So I think we can be helpful in that way. You're also missing like a self-interview, coaching. There's a lot of pieces. Here's the biggest dilemma, you know, there's a lot of really good right backs in MLS Next with a 3.5 GPA. You're one of many. Does that make sense? Yeah. Now UCLA and Stanford, those types of schools, which is why I was wondering what kind of feedback you got from the camps, to be honest with you, if they thought you were going to be part of their group, they would have gotten ahold of you on June 15th. So, and it's great you went to their camps, but the fact that they didn't call you, is that true?
Yeah.
If they, since they didn't call you right now, you're not on their radar. Now look, soccer works in many ways. UCLA is not done with their 20, you know, '27 class. So we got, we're okay. But the point is you're not on the top of anybody's list right now. Does that make sense? So, and if I were to confirm, have you had any phone calls with any coaches?
No, not yet.
And have you had any visits?
I don't think so.
What are you debating? Is there one school that had mentioned something?
Well, there was, there's Stanford, basically just came out to watch our whole team because a lot of us sent out emails and They sent us back with an email, like, as in, come to our game, we'll be attending the games and stuff. But there was a lot of us that did send out the same email.
Yeah, and that's another thing, and this is something unique to the situation we're in. Look, I don't care about any of your teammates. I only care about you. Your club, they cannot act in the same way because that's not fair. Does that make sense to you and your dad?
Yeah.
Yeah. They have to— that just doesn't— now that's not my job. That's why I started doing this, is I really wanted to help the individual kids. So to that same token, Stanford is a reach because, you know, Stanford, you still need an amazing GPA to go there as well as being an athlete. But the other schools, I don't think they're out of the question. And college soccer is in the realm with potential scholarship for sure. You know, I think if you do this right, you should get $20,000 in scholarship. I would be per year. So that's $80,000. That's with your 3.5. If you keep it at 3.5, maybe a little bit 3.6 if possible there. That's just academics. That's separate from sport, which I would anticipate something, especially if we're aiming at D2. So to me, scholarship is very realistic, as is playing college soccer based off of your video. And I don't say that to everybody. It varies per person. Does that make sense? Yeah. Okay. So it's okay with you guys. I'd like to explain kind of what it looks like to work with me. Is that okay? So to work with me, let me ask you this real quick. Does your father, Mr. Hernandez, does this all make sense to you so far?
Yes.
Okay. So to work with me basically looks like this. Going back to your points of concern, the first thing we're going to do is I'm going to create a list of schools for your son. I'm going to pick them myself based off of his major, based off of coaches, based off of playing style. Look, your son is going to want to be in a team that plays good footy. He's, to be honest, is a little bit not nice, but Stanford traditionally in the college soccer world are known for not playing it as eloquently as some other teams. Now they win soccer games and it varies per year, so I'm not trying to throw them under the bus. They're an amazing team, but that's kind of the consensus. So your, your son is going to want to be in a club and he's going to be good at it that wants him to play through lines, that doesn't just want him to hit it into the channel. Because I think your son would enjoy that. Would you agree, Emilio?
Yeah.
So our first job is to find the right coach. That's my job. And create the list for you. We're going to create it off your majors. That's number one. Number two, yes, you've gone to some ID camps, but from now on, we're doing them in a much more strategic way than you were doing them before. I don't want you going to any ID camp without a genuine invitation, and I don't want us leaving any ID camp without them telling us either what level you can play and/or there'll be a reference for us. That's the only way we're leaving camp. Does that make sense? Yeah. Okay, then the next, next thing is your video. I want to fix your video. It needs a self-interview at the very least. We will need to add some clips in it which we can gather over time. You also need a ton of every-touch videos. I will edit those all for you. I will do it all. You may have to tell me, you know, give me the link to the footage, but I will edit all the game stuff. And then we have to set up your Instagram, your YouTube page, and And then to the biggest point, which is the part that I find most exciting, is we have to start responding to schools and getting responses going, hey, this school wants to call me. Hey, this school wants me on a visit. Zev, I don't know if I should go to this one or this one. That's the fun part. Does that make sense?
Mm-hmm.
Okay. So the way it would work is this. In the very first month, your son and I are gonna meet every single week for the first month, and we're gonna get everything started, fix his videos, write his emails, pick his schools. And then I have a system, it's a technological system that basically allows us to email many schools at one time in a genuine way through an AI-generated system that basically gives us all the school's emails so you don't have to copy and paste them. So it happens a lot faster. After that month, right, we will have sent out a bunch of emails. Now it's all about responding. We can still meet every single week if we need to, but the first month is mandatory. Does that make sense?
Yeah.
Okay. So to work with me, there's— I customize it based off of this phone call conversation, but there's basically two ways for you guys. Option number one is you work with me. Zev Taublieb is my real name, or call it Soccer Guy. You can meet me as much time as you want. You can text me as many times you want. The first month is mandatory. We'll edit all your videos until you graduate, and we're with you to the end. And And from our perspective, we do not guarantee scholarship. We can never connect you directly to a coach. So I'll never call a coach and say, this kid's a baller, even though, to be honest with you, I really liked your video. But we're not allowed to do that because of NCAA rules. Does that make sense?
Yeah.
All of our students have received a minimum of $40,000 a year, which is $100,000 plus in scholarship, but we cannot guarantee it. And like I told you, you know, the minimum for you, I think, would be 20. You know, with your grades if we pick the right schools. Now you may at some point say, well, that school offered me less money, but I really like it. But we're going to pick whichever school is best for you. Does that make sense? Yeah. So option 1 is work with me one-on-one, and 2 is instead of working with me, you work with one of my coaches. My coaches all called me just like you said, Zev, I want to play college soccer. All of them are now playing college soccer at the Division 1 level at schools that you want to go to. One of them is at UCSB. And now they're my coaches. So they teach you the process and you share that one coach with about 5 other students. Same thing. We fix your video. We have had the same success rate, but you know, the difference really is you don't get as much one-on-one attention. So it's a different model. Does that make sense?
Yeah.
So to summarize, there's me to work with one-on-one. Does that make sense to you guys? Yeah. From your father's perspective, do you have any questions?
Not pretty much just because I want to see what information we're getting from this phone call and everything.
Absolutely. Can I ask your son really quick, having heard all of this, are you excited about doing all this work? Are you scared?
Um, yeah, I'm excited. But it's also like, I just want to see what I can get out of it too, you know?
Okay, I feel hesitation from both of you. That's okay. You know, that's the purpose of this call. I'm gonna start with your father first. Is there some— is there a question or something I can address that you have concern over?
No, it's just, it's just, just learning how this whole process works and everything. You know, it has, you know, not only that, but the price, everything, yeah, it's a little, you know, I mean, I doable.
Mm-hmm.
How would that payments work? With payments?
Yes. Yes, we do payments. It's due in the first 2 months.
