A soccer coach tells a sophomore how to get recruited: hit three ID camps in summer, two in winter, one in spring. Start with mass camps where multiple schools scout, then move to individual camps once coaches show real interest. Send personalized videos to coaches to generate that interest first.

How many ID camps should I go to as a sophomore going into my junior year? I recommend 3 ID camps during the summer. Summer months are big time. So 3 ID camps in the summer, 2 ID camps in the winter, 1 ID camp in the spring, and then repeat again in the summer. Now it depends though. If you get a bunch of genuine interest, you should change your mind. And I don't want to give you black and white answers because you're not a black and white person. You are a person of incredibleness and you have your own heritage that needs a custom plan. And part of the way you should make that custom plan is through getting the genuine interest. So you want to pick some camps. You must go to camps. Like, that is non-negotiable. So you have no interest, or even if you do have interest, go to camps. Now, I don't recommend individual camps typically unless you're playing MLS Next or ECNL and you think you're really the level and you know you're the level, or the college coach or club coach has told you you're the level, because you're going to get really frustrated when you're at the camp. But if you go to a mass camp with multiple schools and you do a good job, there's going to be multiple schools who are going to tell you, we'd like to see more of you. Now you've got a lead source. You finally started, you got some momentum. Then you can go to individual camps. And the best thing, of course, is get genuine invitations to mass ID camps. So you can go to one camp with tons of schools, but yet there's coaches there who knew you were coming. Hence the video and the emails that you are supposed to send. If you're playing MLS NEXT and you want more help playing college soccer, or you're playing any other level, give me a call. Links in the bio. Goodbye.
