High school sophomores have two summers to get recruited for college soccer. Skip pure skill camps and overseas academies. Instead, attend college ID camps that combine training with coach exposure, then email coaches before and after to stay on their radar.

If I'm a sophomore, these are 3 camps I would never go to. Number 1, any IMG or Nike ID camps that are just skill-based, I don't recommend. You can go to college soccer ID camps and learn skills and get exposure at the same time. And as a sophomore, you have this summer and next summer to get recruited. You do not get your senior year in many cases if you're going to play for a top 25 program. So you must go to camps this year. If you're not sure if you're good enough, then don't go to your dream school's ID camp first. Go pick a smaller school, but go to an ID camp, at least 1 to 2. Number 2, do not go to anything abroad. Ajax, Real Madrid, Barcelona. If you don't have a European passport, those are all basically a waste of time. If you want to go to college and you want to eventually go pro, you're going to have to get a college offer first. 80% of every single American that went on to go pro got interest from college coaches first and then got interest from pro teams. Number 3, you should go to ID camps without genuine interest at this age. I know in a perfect world the college coaches would say to you, hey, we love you, please come to my camp. But as a sophomore, you haven't quite earned the right for them to fall in love with you without going to camps. So go to the camps, then after the camp, if you're going to go to a The second one, you want to get genuine interest. But don't think, I'll just wait for perfect genuine interest to go to camps, otherwise they're money grabs. You should go to the camp no matter what. It's a guaranteed way to be seen. And if the coach don't watch you and see you, either you didn't email them enough before, or you did not perform well at the camp, or they just don't like you. And then you should move on with your life and go find a new school that can appreciate you. If you want more help playing college soccer, give us a call. Link's in the bio.
