College Soccer Guy explains what a campus visit really means: coaches are interested, so treat it like a job interview. Ask good questions, be polite to everyone, and watch how current players act to see if you fit the culture.

Hey, College Soccer Guy! I just got invited on a visit. What should I be doing when I get invited on a visit? Well, first of all, congratulations! Being invited on a visit is a really big deal because it means they want to see you in person interact with their players, but it also means that they think you could be a candidate. Typically speaking, coaches will have about, official visit-wise, maybe about 6 to 7 players per year, maybe a little bit more. Unofficial visit-wise, they might have about 10 to 12. and of those kids, they're probably going to pick 2 to 3, maybe 4 to 5, depending on the situation. Okay, so this is a very good thing. I'm very excited. So what should I do on this visit, College Soccer Guy, so I can do a good job? Well, the first thing is remember that you are there being interviewed. So do not go there going, "I'm just Mr. So-and-so and they're going to take me on the team because I'm so great." You're there to impress them. The coach is going to ask the players, "What was the kid like?" Especially to the captain. "Did you like him? Did they have a good attitude? Did you like her?" So you want to ask questions to the players and say, what is the coach really like? So you can understand if it's a coach you really love. You also want to open the door for them, even help them, you know, potentially put away their food. The more polite you can be really can go a very long way. And if you get a vibe that you don't like the school for some reason based off of how the players treat you, then you know that this is not the right place for you. So you're interviewing them, but you want to act super professional. Thank you so much. That's so helpful. If you guys want more help, comment, call, and we can schedule a call with you and your parents.
