High school juniors make three recruiting mistakes: trusting mass ID camps where coaches don't recruit, skipping pre-camp outreach to individual camps, and not signaling willingness to apply even without roster spots. Junior year is when you get selective about target schools.
If you are a junior going to senior year, these are the 3 mistakes I see most often. Number 1, you're still going to mass ID camps. So you're going to a Masters or a 60 and hoping to get noticed at an Exact or Future 500. Once you're a junior, this becomes very challenging. Now it is definitely still possible, and because Division II schools now could have been reaching out to you since your sophomore year, you could still get recruited at a mass ID camp. But remember, 90% of the time the coaches are going to go, hey, it was great to see you at the mass camp, can you please come to our individual? So this That's why what you need to do, so number 2, is focus on individual ID camps where you've sent them emails beforehand, you've sent them video beforehand, and because you've done so, they now really wanted you to come to the individual camp. And junior year is really about picking the school you want to go to. 8th, 9th, and 10th are figuring out who likes you and being very, quote unquote, not picky. Junior year is when we want you to get picky and go, based off the responses I received in the past, These are the schools I'm going to focus on now. Number 3 is you must think about what schools you're applying to. If you're willing to apply to school with or without soccer, you must message that in the email because it tells the coach that you really like the school. And if you were to get in on your own, there might be an opportunity for you. If you want more help playing college soccer, comment the word "call" and we can schedule a call with you and your parents.
