Kavi played youth soccer at Danza Force Academy before joining UC Santa Barbara as a Division I recruit. After a medical redshirt, he entered the transfer portal and landed at Amherst College, a Division III program that matched his priorities for academics and competitive soccer.
Story. Tell us your recruiting story, boss.
My name is Kavi. I'm a— used to formerly at UC Santa Barbara. I got recruited my junior year, decided to go there, had a great 2 years. I played my freshman year and I had to take a medical redshirt my second year and then decided to enter the portal this past May. And pretty much I emailed every school, got recruited by Amherst. They're really interested. And, you know, after a couple weeks of contacting them, the head coach and the assistant coach I decided to commit there. So I'll be headed to Amherst College on the East Coast in Massachusetts.
Top, top D3 program. Tell us about where were you in high school? What club team did you play for?
So I played for Danza Force Academy growing up. I played for their MLS Next team pretty much from 13, U13s up to U19s. Okay, I just want to pause there.
You see how he said U13? That means this kid started playing soccer at a very high level by 10, 11, 12, was in the MLS world by 13, stayed in it, got recruited to Division 1. And then tell us, you said it's a great program. Not everybody thinks about transferring to quote unquote D3, but I know and you know Amherst is a top, top program. They're going to be— you're going to have a great time. They're lucky to have you. What made you think about going to Amherst of any school?
Yeah, I think, you know, during my recruiting process, even in high school, I was looking for a high academic program that was also very good. And UCSB met those needs. And when I was ready to transfer, you know, I did the same thing. I reached out to everybody. I didn't discount the D3s because there's some very good D3s like Amherst. And, you know, luckily when I reached out to them, they were very responsive. I did some research. They had a great culture. They still have a great culture and they're very competitive. So, you know, I'm excited to make the move and, you know, excited just to be in that environment. What a legend, guys.
What a freaking legend. If you want more help, give me a call. Link in bio. Bye.
