A soccer coach walks through a recruiting roadmap for a high school player: hit a 3.6 GPA to qualify for elite camps like Masters or 60, join Barça Residency Academy, then email 50 colleges with a template that leads with your Spain scouting experience and lack of a showcase team.
The other thing I want you to do is in terms of camps, if your GPA is above a 3.6, I want you book Masters or 60, which is happening really soon. If you're gonna miss this one, I need you to go to this one. Now in terms of club teams, if we get to pick, I want you to go to Barca Residency, but if you don't get to pick 'cause of some politics, then Ventura is a very good other program. If there's another team that we can do that as well. So all of that is good, but we need to do that. Then you're gonna send emails to, I know you don't wanna play D3 and I don't disagree with you, but the top academic D3s are really good. So you are gonna send it to about, 50 schools that I'm gonna give you. It's really easy, you're just gonna click one button. We're gonna send emails to some D2s and some D1s. Now the email we're gonna write, this is the part that gets a little tricky, because I'm gonna write it right now. Dear coach, genuine ask. Now the ask for you is gonna be the mask because you don't have a team yet, so we're not going to a showcase. Then there's the part that's tricky. So this is, I'm gonna write it now, but we do want your feedback to maybe help me fix it. We're gonna say my name is, and this is how you're gonna start. I played for, my name is blah blah blah, I played for LA Surf before getting a full scholarship to play for Barça Residency. I was then scouted and brought to Spain to play for da da da and da da da. I am returning back home this December and will be joining back up with Barça Residency or another MLS Next team shortly. I won't be at FEST. However, however, I'm very excited to touch base with you now that I will, I will be staying in the States. Very important, because if you go abroad, they can't really recruit you. The ask you're gonna say is, are you looking for da da da for the class of da da da? And that's, I am open, I am happy to come to any ID camps. That's really important that we say that, and we'll help you write that. Okay, then the next thing is, when it comes to Spain, it's a big deal and all that. The next piece is your video. I'm gonna fix your video. So that's the email we're gonna send. Your subject line, which is really important, is actually gonna say, Barça residency MLS Next, and then if you wanna put Spain youth level, but don't put the teams, because I know you wanna put the teams 'cause they're like impressive names, but see how it says Euro Soccer Academy? They're just gonna assume it's like a, a thing you paid for and they're not gonna know it's legit. So you're not gonna put the name. So you say Spain, you can say, um, scouted to Spain. Actually, I don't even want to say that. I just wanna say Barcelona City MLS next. Let them read the email and then the rest of it will create for you. But that's important. That says Barcelona City. That's bigger than Spain, even though I know Spain's high level.
