High school athletes should email coaches with highlight videos and showcase schedules, not cold call. Avoid asking if you're good enough. At ID camps, ask if they're recruiting your position for your class year. Tell coaches immediately about ODP selections or goals scored.

Do you want to impress call scouts? Avoid these 5 common mistakes. Do not ask for a phone call. If you want to call them and you want to cold call, which doesn't work very well, but it can go ahead and call them. If you decide to do a cold call, all it usually does is the coach goes, okay, great. Thanks for cold calling. I'm impressed. And if they pick up the phone, which is super rare, you can then send them an email and they'll maybe have a better chance looking at it. Instead, email them often with every touch videos and follow up on your social media and give them your highlight video and your showcase schedule. And then over time they will ask you for a call. If they're interested in you. Never ask them, whether it's in person or via email, are you good enough for their team? Most of the time, if you wanna ask this question, it's at an ID camp, and they just don't know the answer if you're good enough for their team, and it's more complicated than that. You might be good enough, but maybe they don't need your position, and you're just likely gonna get ghosted if you ask that question. When you go to camps, do not ask for feedback. Now, I know we all want feedback, and I think it's a great thing, but if you are a sophomore or a junior, you're not there to ask for feedback. You're there to ask, are they looking for your position for the class of X? And are you being considered for that position for the Class of X? Always follow up when you have good news. Don't wait and be like, I'll just tell them on a phone call. I'll just wait to tell them. If you have good news, tell them right away. Good news doesn't happen all the time. ODP, scored a goal, whatever it is, tell them. Do not ignore schools in the same region or in the same conference. Remember, these coaches know each other. You get recruited by one, you get recruited by the other schools in the same conference. Comment, call me, schedule a call with you and your parents.
