The Called Soccer explains that MLS NEXT 2 has no badge and it won't affect college recruitment. Three steps matter: tell coaches you moved to MLS NEXT 2, plan for a Flex Fast showcase, and send coaches full-match video before the event so they can evaluate you against top competition.
Will the MLS NEXT 2 have a badge on their jersey? I'm The Called Soccer and I help you play college soccer. So the answer is no. As of right now, there will be no badge. However, it is likely that they will be coming out with a badge over time as the league develops and grows. Now many of you want the patch because it's cool and it's connected to MLS, which is awesome, but does the patch really make a difference if you play college soccer? The answer is no. It does not make a difference. What we need though for you, given you're playing MLS NEXT 2, is to let your coaches know that you've switched to MLS NEXT 2. Then you need to find out from your director, are you going to be going to flex Fast either this year or next year because if you are, that's going to change your life because that is a big opportunity. Now, just because you're going does not mean they're going to recruit you. You must then get in touch with these coaches well before the showcase and by doing so, you might have an opportunity to actually meet with them and/or have them come watch your game or more realistically, they will not show up or they'll miss the best moment or you'll be on the bench but you can follow up with video from that showcase and that is really valuable. The analogy I would give is that footage from a big tournament like that can last you a year. If you have every-touch videos and a highlight video from the showcase itself because the value of it is so massive. It weighs so much because the coaches know the level's really good. They would've been there in person, or maybe they were there in person, so they know that they can depend on that video versus league video is very helpful, but they don't know if that day you played against the worst team in the league and that's why you were so great.
