A college soccer recruiting advisor says ECNL RL can get you to Division I, pointing to recent Utah Tech commits. He recommends sophomores attend 3-5 camps yearly for top programs, fewer if your recruiting video is strong. Coaches pick players they see most often, so constant video distribution matters.

Is ECNL RL good enough in order to play college soccer? The short answer is absolutely. We had a student this year commit to Utah Tech, a Division I school, from ECNL RL. What you have to understand though is with the new MLS NEXT 2 league, what will happen to ECNL RL is debatable. Now all of this still depends on your current club, depends on your current, uh, video, and how many camps you're willing to go to. If you're playing ECNL RL and you're a sophomore, I would anticipate that as a sophomore you're going to need to go to 3 to 5 camps in the given year if you want to play at a top academic 3, or you want to play Division 1 college soccer. If you want to play in a mid-tier, then you could go to 2 to 4 camps. But this does depend on how much video you have and how often you've been sending it out. The more often you send video out and the better your video is, the less camps you theoretically have to go to if you're getting genuine interest from the coaches. The less genuine interest you have, the more camps you have to go to. And at the end of the day, the coach is going to pick who they can see the most.
