A high school junior with a 4.2 GPA and MLS NEXT experience asks about college soccer recruiting. Amran Ali says Division III spots are mostly filled by August and Division I is tough, but low-income athletes can get $60k to $300k in academic aid over four years. He recommends booking a call to discuss next steps.

This student DM'd me, hey, can you help me out? I play for SYC MLS next and plan to take a gap year and play one more year, and I want to play D1 or top academic D3 as a 4.2 GPA. I just can't afford it being from a low-income family. I'm also taking a gap year because I started playing club in my sophomore year, which is really late, and was on my third team my junior year, so I only got MLS Tech senior year. So first of all, if you're taking a gap year, that's great, good to know. You're already late to the process if you want to play top academic, because if you already are about to take your gap year, that means the recruiting has already begun for the top academic D3s because technically you're a junior, and those juniors are going to be done recruiting in August. So I'm not saying you've missed it, but playing Division I might be difficult. You've got the grades. If you're from a low-income family, it may mean you need to apply for academic aid, but with your amazing GPA, you are looking at a scholarship of $60,000 to $100,000 to $300,000. So this is one of our students who went to a Division III school and they got $300,000 over 4 years, and this was from a low-income family that we helped them do. So the short answer is I would need you to schedule a call with us so I could learn a little bit more about your situation. You might have to invest some money in order to get some money back, my services, for example, or just go to camps and whatnot. But it's great you're playing MLS NEXT, but you're going to need to act really quickly. So if you can, can you please book a call using the link in the bio? Mr. Amran Ali, good job.
