Three things to do before MLS NEXT and DCNL showcases: build relationships with coaches year-round, attend an ID camp 2-6 months before (which increases scout attendance by roughly 60%), and make sure your team actually plays in these events.

What are the 3 things you need to do to prepare for the MLS NEXT events coming this summer? Number 1, please understand that if you start emailing the schools a week or 2 weeks before to come to your game, that you're out of your mind that they're going to come to your game. You need to develop a relationship over the course of a year to get them to come to your game at a showcase. You need to have already gone to their camp. They need to already really like you to confirm they are going to make their way to your game. Number 2, if you could go to their ID camp at some point before the showcase, so we're talking maybe 6 months in advance or 2 or 3 months in advance, the chances of them coming to your showcase game, which is really important to actually get an offer, goes up by 60%. Number 3, you have to be on a team that's going to these events. If you're not on a team that are going to these events, now that's a totally different and very difficult situation because then you're not going to be seen, and there's a very good chance you don't get to play at least at the highest level or even a good level Division I or Division III school because you must be seen at a showcase. If you'd like to know every single event for you. Type the word MLS Next or type the word DCNL and I'll send you every single event for both or either of those leagues.
