I'm a goalkeeper and I'm wondering if I should pay for a more expensive private trainer in order to play college soccer. So personally, the only reason you would pay for a private coach is of course to get better at soccer or to get video. If you think the more expensive coach can make you better, then if you have the budget, of course. But you don't need a private coach to play college soccer. You need these 3 things. You need to be playing on a club team, you need to have a highlight video, and you need to write emails that invoke a response from the college coaches. When I say invoke a response, these are questions that you write in the emails that would likely make them respond. An example would be, are you looking for a goalkeeper for the class of 2026? I'm thinking about coming over to your games this fall. Which game should I attend? Emailing them and saying, I hope, I look forward to hearing from you, is not going to make them respond. If you don't compliment the coach about something about their own life that makes it genuine, they're also just going to feel like it's a robot email and they're not going to respond. If your highlight video as a goalkeeper does not have the best first minute, including your feet, they will also not respond. So don't worry about private coaches. What you want to worry about is your strategic strategy in order to play college soccer. If you want more help, comment camp for a list of camps that you should go to.
