A coach explains why some players get D2 and D3 offers but not D1: it takes more than talent. D1 coaches need to see you in person 4 to 6 times, usually at ID camps or showcases, not regular league games. One camp might land you D2 or D3, but D1 requires multiple evaluations.

Hey coach, how come some players get offers from D3 and D2 but don't get offers from Division 1? Well, one argument is that the level of the player is not "good enough" for Division 1, but I will tell you I was recruited personally only by Division 2 and Division 3, and there was only one coach at the Division 1 level who really, really liked me, and that coach is the one I ended up playing for, and I ended up playing Division 1. Okay, well, like, What is the difference though? Like, why were you able to play Division I and some people are not able to play Division I? Well, when it comes to Division I, part of it is what do you want? Do you really want to have your life all year round be obsessed with college soccer? If that's you, then you want to aim for Division I. But the other part of it is exposure rate. So college coaches at Division I must see you 4 to 6 times in person. One of those can be an ID camp, the other one can be a showcase. So coach, I play in lots of games. You know, I'll just tell the D1 coaches to come watch me play and then Boom, I'll get recruited. Well, I wish it was that simple, but to be honest with you, most coaches will never come to your league games. Like, literally, there's a few exceptions, but pretty much never. They're only going to go to showcases or an ID camp. Is an ID camp really enough? An ID camp can be enough, but not enough to get an offer from a D1, where with the D2s and D3s, it could almost be enough.
