A recruiting consultant helps a mother plan her daughter Angelina's Division I soccer recruitment. They audit coach communications to schedule follow-ups, leverage club connections for outreach, build a target school list including lesser-known programs, and emphasize finding a coach who supports her goals.

You're only a sophomore and Division I schools have illegally basically emailed you back when you mentioned your showcase because your video is good and you play for a good club team and whatnot. So the next thing is I want to do an audit, right? You've already sent emails and received emails. I want to know exactly what they said so I can help you respond. Some of them might have left their cell phone. I want to text them Happy Thanksgiving. You know, I want to, I want to know what's happening. Then the other piece of it is your club will play a role, not tomorrow, but I know Richmond and I know who you play for. They're not going to do it for you, but over time they will call your coaches and your coaches will need to make calls for us. But to do that, they need to already— they need to be fed it on a platter. If you are dependent on them calling for you, you're crazy. But if you say to them, I've already been emailed and texted with this coach, do you mind just following up? They'll do a little bit of work for you. Does that make sense? Okay. Now I want to give you a list. I know you already have a list, and I want to— I want your list, but I also want you to have my list because I know some schools you've never heard of. But also, I want you to leverage some of them. And also, this is a— and this is really the most important thing of our whole discussion today. We talked about academics going first, correct?
Yeah.
Excellent. However, unless I make your daughter quit today, the most important thing is that she likes her coach, because if she doesn't like her coach, she's going to be miserable. No matter what school she goes to. So the real goal here is that she finds a coach who admires that she wants to go pro, who admires that she watches soccer all day. I can tell already your daughter's obsessed with soccer. So, you know, some girls don't play soccer for that. Some girls play for social means. Your daughter, I can tell, I'm here to win games and play soccer and play at the highest level. And that's the environment that coaches want to be around, but we have to express that to them. So this is to say, this is where I'm gonna pause and ask your daughter, Angelina, have I managed to scare you away and make you want to quit? Because there's a lot of work we have to do. Not even a little bit?
Not even a little bit.
Okay, sorry, Mom. Um, so that is then to say, I want to show you guys what I— like, let me pause actually there and let me ask your mom. Is the organization I've kind of described here with the emails and the follow-up, is this the organization you had mentioned you wanted for your daughter?
Yeah, yeah, I think that would be helpful. Obviously, you have a software program that manages the process and she's pretty good with technology. So I think that would be helpful.
Now, to your point, I hear some hesitation. Is there something I missed that you wanted me to cover?
I said that Jane Doe didn't answer.
Not yet? Okay.
Not necessarily, no.
Okay, so let me show you what it looks like to work with us on a day-to-day. Is that okay?
Yeah.
