NPL teams don't get you college looks the way MLS NEXT and ECNL do. A youth soccer coach explains why most NPL players never reach Division I, and how to build highlight reels that target the scouts who actually show up.

I play for an NPL team and we beat all the MLS NEXT teams. We beat all the ECNL teams. Why would I ever leave my team? So first of all, if you're a part of an NPL team or an NPL club, I don't care that you leave. I have no— I don't get any money if you join an MLS NEXT team. I'm just looking at the statistics going, how many of those kids playing NPL are playing Division I college soccer? If you are the one kid that played NPL that played D1, amazing, congratulations. You're one of the very few. If you want to play at the highest levels of college soccer, then you have to just look where the exposure is. So here's the good news. If you're playing NPL or any other level elite academy and you're beating the MLS Next teams and you're beating the ECNL teams, then please make specific video where you send to the coaches, here's me playing against an MLS Next team, here's me playing against an ECNL team, and here's me beating them. I— are you looking for my position for the class of da da da? If I came to your camp, would you consider me? You have to phrase the questions better than that, but the point is to say you can actually gauge their level of interest because you are playing against very high-level opponents. You might be the diamond in the rough. I saw a highlight video today where this kid was playing USU soccer. He's a Division 1 player. He's so good, but he started really late. He's a 2025. He will not get to play Division 1 soccer. He can maybe play Division 3, and he's gonna have to do a bunch of things that we're gonna have to tell him to do if he's even gonna have a chance to do that, even though he is the level. It is not about being the level. It's about getting the exposure rate early enough. If you want more help, comment "call" and we'll schedule a call with you and your parents. Talk soon. Bye.
