A college soccer coach says skip recruiting platforms like NCSA and SportsRecruits. Instead, email coaches yourself with specific details: mention a recent game, a player you admire, or why you want their program. Generic messages don't work. Comment "email" for templates.

Should you use NCSA Sports Recruit, Scouting Zone, or any company during the recruiting process? Ah, you're not gonna like my answer about this, only because I hear a million horror stories all the time. But here's what a college coach thinks. I would just add that as he's talking about the list of schools and sending so many emails, obviously you guys have Excel sheets and whatnot, and there's email systems. What can happen often is we want to lean on an NCSA or maybe a scouting zone or sports recruits, and Rod will comment on this, so will the coaches at the camp, and we see your question in the chat, we'll get to that in just a minute— is the coaches want to hear from you guys, and they want it to be very genuine. I have a tool that I have built that helps us make sure every email is genuine, because that's really important. But just as you have your hunted list of schools, like Rod is saying, it is worth spending the time to add in a sentence that is even more than congratulations to UCLA on winning. They get that every day. It's way bigger to say your student, one of your former players or current players was coached by me or I played against them or I came to watch your game, that's like number one, and I really loved your right back or left back and say something soccer-centric. These coaches eat that up because as you can imagine, not everybody does that as often. So I would just say as you're writing your emails, they have to come from your own email account and be genuine. If you want to know what emails you should be sending to those coaches, comment the word email. I'll give you a list of templates that you should be using.
