Recruiters favor student-athletes on resumes for their discipline and sacrifice. Being an athlete teaches you to approach strangers and mature faster, skills that transfer directly to job interviews. The recruiting process itself is interview training.
Are you more likely to get a job if you go to an Ivy League school or get a high education, or if you're a student athlete? Let's hear from this guy right now. Those of you who want to go to Oxy, like, send him a message and tell him how great the camp was. You know, this is a lot for him and he would love that. And moms and dads, I think you'd agree with me, all of these lessons are what you're going to use to get a job one day.
Sit down to do an interview for somebody that's looking for a job or an internship or whatever it might be. First thing I do is when I look at that resume, I look for student athlete. And if they're a student athlete, they go right to the top. I tell those student athletes, you're going to be doing a interviews in your life. I want to give you some advice. When somebody asks you the question, why should I look at you over somebody else, you tell them, I'm a student athlete, that sets me apart. I had to get up every morning at 5 AM. I couldn't go to parties at night. I had to sacrifice. At 18, 19 years old, first time I was ever away from home in my life, I had the opportunity to go out and have fun, no restrictions, but I went to bed every night because I had to get up at 5 AM because the school believed in me enough to give me a scholarship. I'm going to take the most out of it. It's important to understand your accomplishments.
And this is why I love doing the recruiting process for the kids, is because you're gonna have to do the same thing when you want to get a job, which is why colleges want student athletes, not only students, because you guys are forced to be adults younger. All of you guys are thinking about college in freshman year versus regular kids don't think about it till senior year. They're more mature typically. I mean, there's always exceptions, but they're more mature. And because you guys are athletes The coaches want you, and because you're getting educated about the process, you have to go up to strangers. This is exactly what you'll do unless AI— just kidding. Um, this is exactly what you'll do regardless.
If you want to know what emails you need to be sending to coaches, comment the word email and I'll send you a list of templates you need to be sending to college coaches.
