Ari Taublieb played Division III soccer at University of Puget Sound under a coach later fired for misconduct, suffering injuries, depression, and isolation. His brother started College Soccer Guy to help athletes avoid similar experiences. Comment "email" for a list of coach contacts.
My brother played Division III soccer at a high-end school and had an awful experience, but I think you need to hear his story so you don't make the same mistakes we did with him when we were younger.
I played DIII and I had a miserable experience because I didn't ask the right questions, and I don't want you to make the same mistake. College Soccer Guy is currently explaining to everyone here at the ID camp— we're at the Occidental ID camp— how to play college soccer. You need to listen to this. I had a D1 school, Seattle U, tell me that I could come on to the school, play for the team, but that it's unlikely I'd get any time. I regret not taking them up on decision, but it's not right for everyone. I regret it because I had a D3 school, University of Puget Sound, tell me that I was gonna be the star, get to play all the time and have a great experience. And it was a top academic D3 for me. I know where I stand. It's not like Emory or anything like that. There's one thing I wish I would do differently. It's I would have asked the coach, okay, what player is one that actually suits your style? Because I'm a small guy, I'm 5'4", and I'm not the best pick for every coach. Some coaches want the big athletic guys, That's on me.
That's my brother Ari Taublieb. He actually later in life did get a job thanks to playing college soccer. It was an awful experience, and he got depressed and lonely, and he ended up having multiple surgeries. And the coach was a complete prick who recently got fired for being a drunk. So it was an awful experience, and it affected my family and I so much to see my brother so sad, and we didn't know what to do. Hence the College Soccer Guy was born, because I did not want to see anyone have that experience while I had this most amazing experience, went pro, had the best college Coach ever, changed my life forever. So if you wanna know how to make sure you have a great experience, which is worth more than any scholarship, comment the word email and I'll send you a list of emails you should be sending to college coaches.
