A recruiting coach says contact college soccer programs by June 15 of sophomore year, even if they don't reply. Players who reach out by then are 40-50% more likely to get Division I calls. Start outreach 6-8 months early, at the beginning of sophomore year.
I want to add one of the things he mentioned, which please interrupt me if I'm wrong, is that he likes getting emails from kids before June 15th of your sophomore year. He cannot respond technically via email, but he likes seeing that you guys are interested, assuming it's genuine. You'd like to hear from them before June 15th, correct?
Because like when June 15th hits, tournaments are rolling off, right? When MLS Showcase, ECNL, EA, all these are starting their summer tournaments and their showcases. And so we know going into the showcase, we know who the kids— I think that's the big thing that I really enjoy, and our school likes that. We're going into a showcase that a kid basically emailed us, let us know where the game is, let us know his jersey number, give us his highlights, and then we go from there and we basically communicate. Thank you, boss. Have a great day.
It does not get any more clear than that. Please email the schools before June 15th, even though they're not supposed to respond to you. We have students all the time who get approached before June 15th, all the time. So do not think it's really a rule, it's a guideline, and you have to compete with the other students getting calls. And if you don't get a call on June 15th, the chance of you playing Division I drops by like 40-50%. Does not mean you still cannot play Division I, you totally can, but the best students or the students most well-known get calls on June 15th, and it'd be better to be one of those. So if you had to ask me when to start, the beginning of your sophomore year would give you literally 6 to 8 months of you playing good soccer to get a call on June 15th. That's the time to do it. If you start before that, you're killing it. If you start after that, now we gotta really act quickly. If you want to know what you should be doing based off your grade, I want you to put in your grade. So you comment 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade. Put in that, and I will be able to send you list of to-do lists you should be doing given your age.
