A coach claims high school soccer players can contact Division I coaches at any age during camps, bypassing the June 15 recruiting restriction. The strategy: email coaches before camp with highlights, approach them during breaks while camp is running, then follow up after with thank-you notes and regular updates. Persistent outreach can get coaches to invite players to showcases or call once June 15 arrives.
I found a loophole so you can talk to Division 1 schools no matter how old you are. I know you're all like, June 15th, June 15th, June 15th, they can't even talk to us. First of all, there's another video I'm going to show you where the San Diego coach literally says please email me before June 15th. But this video, I'm going to show you that you can talk to Division 1 schools right now. Listen to this college coach talk about it.
There's no restrictions. You're in a place at camp— camp started— once camp starts where you can speak to them freely. So don't worry if you're an 8th grader, 9th grader, 10th grader, or whatever. You're able to speak to the coach and they're able to speak to you. So feel free to utilize the time, which is ultimately the most important part.
So now the question is, what should you say to these coaches before the camp, during the camp, and after the camp? Let me tell you. Number 1, before the camp, you should email the Division I coaches and you're gonna say this: Dear coach, I'll be attending the camp on X date. I've attached my video below. I look forward to seeing you there. "May I have permission to come up and speak to you?" You don't have to ask that question. It's a little bit redundant for me because you're gonna go up to them no matter what and you don't really want them saying no to the question. So you're better off just telling them you're gonna be there, but if you wanna ask a question, go for that. During the camp, I posted it in my other videos, so scroll through my videos and you will find examples of me literally at the Nike camp pushing a kid to talk to the coach. Literally, like gently pushing because In between lunch breaks, when there's an extra ball or gear to go get, there's plenty of times in between without having to wait until the end to talk to the coaches. And then afterwards, even if it's a Division I coach and they're not supposed to respond to you, email them and say thank you and you look forward to staying in touch. Then keep emailing them no matter what. That is not gonna be enough to get recruited. You do not get recruited at an ID camp to the point where they're gonna make you an offer. They're going to say to you, I've identified you Thanks to the camp. That was really helpful. Please stay in touch. Then keep sending them videos, tell them about your showcase, and then if they like you, they will respond to you saying, I want to see you at showcase, or they won't respond to you, and then when June 15th does hit, you will get a phone call because you've been contacting them so often because you're a legend and you follow The College Soccer Guy. Now comment the word quiz if you want to know what you should be doing in your situation.
