Your brother's Division 3 soccer experience was miserable because of his coach, not the division. At ID camps, GPAs from 3.5 to 4.5 separate otherwise similar players. One host played D3 at University of Puget Sound with a 3.2 GPA and got recruited by assistant coach Byron for his attitude.
My brother played Division 3 soccer and was freaking miserable because the coach was so frustrating. It could be D3, could be D2, could be D1, but if you don't have a good coach, you're going to be miserable. Now my brother goes and interviews a bunch of players at this ID camp and he talks about the importance of GPA so you can get a scholarship. Listen to this. What's your GPA? 3.5. 3.5.
4.3. 4.5.
Those are some strong GPAs. You do not need that level of a GPA to play college soccer, but does it help? You better believe it. Why? All these guys are probably good, but they're also pretty similar. So if you need something to differentiate yourself, yes, it's GPA. But we just finished speaking to the coaches here at this ID camp, which has been put on beautifully, and the truth is a lot of these coaches told us, hey, we see great GPAs. At the end of the day, we want good soccer players. So a GPA is not going to get you on the team, but it's definitely going to potentially get you from not even having a chance. We're showing you this honestly just so you can see, hey, here are the people you're up against. We're not trying to be too mean or too nice, we're trying to be realistic. So what we want is for you to put yourself in the best position possible. But here's the reality: I did not play college soccer with a 4.6 GPA. I had a 3.2, and I played D3. Because I'm smarter? No, I was able to get seen. And that's what we prioritize here at College Soccer Guy, which is how do we get you actually viewed by these coaches? Because if they saw you honestly and paid attention, maybe you would be able to play on the team. The assistant coach that picked me to play on their D3 soccer team at the University of Puget Sound, an awesome guy named Byron, and he told me quite honestly, we have too much attitude on our team. We like that you seem humble. You're going to be joining even though we think that kid quite honestly maybe has more talent. He was just honest, and there's plenty of coaches who would not pick me.
I want to take a look at your highlight video to see what level you can play, so I want you to comment the word review, and then I can look at your highlight video and ask you a couple questions.
