In this workshop segment, Speaker A addresses common questions about maintaining contact with college soccer coaches after the initial email, emphasizing persistence and creative follow‑up methods. They recommend incorporating coach testimonials on camera and creating a brief self‑interview (about 12 seconds) that showcases the athlete’s name, GPA, and personality. The discussion highlights the importance of “Every Touch” highlight reels—comprehensive clips of an athlete’s on‑field actions—and advises hosting these videos on a personal YouTube channel rather than the commercial platform Huddle, citing control, personalization, and reduced advertising as advantages. Speaker B acknowledges the upcoming video content, and Speaker A notes a volunteer’s participation.

There's different kinds of video. Going back to how to follow up, one of the questions I get asked often is, I sent the first email and I don't really know what to do to stay in touch, to keep going. Or for those of you who are emailing the D1 schools, it's kind of like emailing like a wall and the wall doesn't say anything back to you, but you got to keep doing it. The— this is not to say it's too creative, but you could put your coach on camera and they could say some nice things about you. They're not going to say bad things, so it's It's not like it's a, it's not weighted in gold, but it's unique. What about a self-interview? That's what we put in our students' videos, just a very brief 12-second, my name is, my GPA. You guys can tell a lot about my personality within 2 seconds of the way I talk. Rod the same. We wanna get to know your athletes that way, hence why you guys go to these camps. And then just again, I find that the best videos for the grandeur scale of all the students we've helped play college soccer for on the women's side are these Every Touch videos are really key. And to have many of them and on a YouTube page is better than Huddle. The Huddle runs a commercial. It's really annoying. YouTube is yours. We know it's yours. It's personal. And so from a video perspective, the Every Touch videos is a key component.
Cool. And we'll get to the video if somebody's brave enough.
Yeah, we already had a volunteer.
Alright, we'll get to that, alright, cool. And again, so before, during, after, right? So what your homework is, right, is everybody should be sending emails to those coaches. The website is accurate. All of those coaches have double confirmed. I sent them, all the coaches, again, like the schedule basically for the weekend. So they already have it. Nobody told me they're not coming, right? Well, actually, so Saturday, Mikey, the associate coach for Claremont's coming. Sunday, David, the head coach, is coming. For Claremont, that is. So, but otherwise, you know, all the coaches are still there. So email them, email them and tell them you're coming. That's the first part. The second part is look at them in the eyes, speak with them, you know, speak to them, use the opportunities that you have at camp. And then after, right, you know, offer the feedback and just, you know, saying thank you, of course, right? So kind of just to review, right? What are the best practices for recruiting? Well, be the best soccer player you can be.
