Coaches Rod, Speaker B, and Speaker C review high school soccer player Eva's highlight reel clip by clip. They praise her goals and attacking play while critiquing the video's framing, zoom, and music choices. Rod notes that a strong opening goal matters more than position when catching a college coach's eye.
Oh, not yet.
If I asked you, do you want to go into like STEM, which is like, you know, math, engineering, science, or business, what would you pick?
I'm kind of into business.
Okay.
And for the parents who are listening, in my experience working with a lot of high school athletes, usually they know— the kids know if they love math or science by 9th grade. So if they don't, they usually don't switch to becoming a theater major. So in your case, how do I pronounce your first name?
It's Eva.
Oh, Eva, perfect. Eva, when I, in your case, you're probably not tomorrow gonna become a doctor. If you change your mind, good for you, but otherwise she's probably gonna stay in the world of business, communication, marketing, managing, all that. So that's already helpful. I've already narrowed down her list in 10 seconds. That is then to say, your grad year, could you confirm your grad year?
There's a shout button.
Joshua will come back to you.
It's 2027.
2027, okay, excellent, I think you said that.
All right, so let's look at her video. And this is a fun moment for us because like the first 5 seconds, like we talked about, are key. This is awesome, lovely photo. I see exactly—
I'm gonna take this away for real quick.
I see exactly her info here, and it's great. The most important stuff, GPA, all that stuff. So good.
Now let's press play. I'll turn the music down, but good music.
People say music doesn't get you recruited, but it's nice when it's is pleasant.
So that's perfect. Instrumental is pleasant.
Okay, so first clip, we've got a circle. Excellent. She's going to do a pretty good move and a super goal.
All right.
So 10 seconds in, at least from my perspective, and Rod, who is a 10 to 15-year college head coach, can tell us otherwise. A couple small things that are just quick. See how there's a big square around here? I'm going to show you the same clip one more time. And this is not to say this is bad, but I see who she is right away, which is super cool. I'm gonna zoom—
oh, it won't let me, I don't think. No, it won't let me.
I was gonna zoom in a tiny bit, although you did a really good job, honestly, because see how we don't have to see the bleachers on the bottom end?
I don't need to see that.
Do I need to see all this sky? You know, I do wanna see the goal, so don't zoom in too much. But this is pretty good. But, you know, she's— there she is.
Now let's just watch some more, 'cause I wanna see some more, 'cause I liked what I saw the first clip. And that was awesome.
And just from my side as a coach, that's an excellent first clip. Goal, okay. Doesn't even matter what position she plays, you know? Like, great, love that. So that's a good way to say, okay, let's see the second clip. So fantastic. Great start, good job.
Great job. Okay, here we go. And we love that, that's cool. Okay, here we go. I recognize this field myself, Hexa.
I know exactly where you're playing.
Oh, and another goal. All right, and a great free kick.
Great clip number 2.
Great clip number 2. All right, so typically, and then Rod will tell me, Clip 1, 2, 3, 4. We have another goal.
Oh my goodness, another great goal.
Okay, so now I'm saying to myself, I forgot what position you play.
So now I'm going back to the beginning and striker, attacking mid.
So that's excellent.
So
