A Division I soccer player describes his daily routine: up at 6:45, training by 7:45, weight room by 9:45. He came through UPSL instead of the typical MLS Next or ECNL path, took a gap year after an injury, and credits his teammates for making the grind worth it.
How are you enjoying being a Division I college soccer player?
No, I'm enjoying it a lot. It's better than I imagined. Obviously there's like some difficulties here and there, but overall it's such an awesome experience. And just having— I think the number one thing I noticed I really enjoyed is coming in, just having like a bond straight away with guys and having instant friends that you get along with. And that, that really carries you through those first few weeks and into the school year. But overall, no, it's so much fun. I love the lifestyle, like waking up, we wake up at 6:45, in the locker room 7:15, training 7:45 to about 9:30, 9:45. And then we have weights from roughly 9:45 to 10:30.
So professional soccer player, my gosh.
Yeah. Yeah. So I'm enjoying it a lot.
That's epic. And I know we've gone over this before, but Your story is just brilliant because you weren't playing MLS Next, ECNL, any of those things. You were playing UPSL and we knew you were a good player and you went from the injury, gap year, and now you're playing in a Division I school. So epic, epic, epic.
