The College Soccer Guy reviews a high school player's highlight reel and finds good dribbling and winger potential but no clear scoring moments. With a 4.33 GPA and ACT 30, the 2023 senior should target academically focused schools like Chapel Hill or UVA rather than purely athletic programs. D-I is possible but unlikely at this stage.

I'm judging your highlight videos to see if you can play college soccer. I'm the College Soccer Guy and I help you play college soccer day by day. Give me a call if you want. Whose video should we pick? Don't have any, but please, I'm willing to do anything. This is my sport. I love that you're willing to do anything. We need a highlight video from you, sir, so we're going to move on to the next one. Okay, here we go. Okay, we got a little intro here. I'm going to pause it for a second. Okay, GPA 4.33, that's very good. League MLS Next. Queen This is all great. See how he put it at the beginning of the video? I did another video last time with a girl soccer player, and I wish she had done something similar to this, had an intro at the beginning. So this is a great start. Automatically I'm going, okay, potential college soccer player. I wish instead of a video here, it was a self-interview, because I know nothing about him as a person. So I wish there was a self-interview. Okay, here's the first clip, most important clip. Good feet, no circle. I would have liked a circle. I can tell it's clearly you, and I'd like to see that play finish. Clearly has ability as a winger. Good dribbling. No goals and assists, which to be honest is, even though it's lovely to see, oh, there we go, there's a goal. It is lovely to see those dribbling moments, absolutely. But coaches tend to not like to see goals first. That said, those were all highlights. So in terms of the order, I wouldn't change the order all that much. I quite like it. My big concerns are this at the moment. Okay, he's got 20 more seconds, sorry. Okay, so that one's too far. If you can zoom in, guys, zoom in is super helpful. Zoom in, zoom in, zoom in. Okay, I don't know which one he is because there's no circle. So that's a problem. Big problem. Needs a circle. Okay, so that's about a minute. So I'm not going to watch anymore. Now I say to myself, based off of that video alone, what level do I think you can play? I still need to find out this: what is the goal of this student? What level would they like to play? They also have an ACT score of 30, which is phenomenal. Now here's another issue. They're a 2023 graduate, meaning they're a senior right now with amazing grades. Right now we are in February 18th of 2023. To play D1 soccer at this point is almost not likely. Also, this student hopefully applied to many schools that are their dream schools. So is there some place they could play college soccer, even maybe a potential lower-end D1 school? Absolutely. But with those amazing grades, they should be going to a school that's really academically oriented because that's better in my opinion for their life. I'm the college soccer guy, but I care about academics the most. My expertise is in soccer, but I want people to go to great schools. Now I'm reading his list here and it says NC State, Chapel Hill, Catawba— Catawba, sorry— Michigan, and UVA. Academically speaking, this student might be able to get into those schools. Soccer-wise, this late, unfortunately, it's not realistic. So based off of the video alone, it doesn't scream to me NC State or Michigan. I would say potential maybe D1, but it's really late in the process. So again, it's not just about your video. If you guys want more help in the process, give me a call, link's in the bio. You are a good soccer player though, really good. So don't stop playing.
