The most underrated way to get noticed by college coaches

A soccer player heading to World Cup qualifiers can stand out to college coaches by mass-emailing Division I and Division III programs with World Cup references in the subject line, attending specific camps like Masters and 60, and following up with a 30-second international-play video once the qualifier schedule drops.

I'm really excited to introduce you to a new student. Great grades, great player, plays for the national team like we did. And there's a couple things we need to do with her that's a little bit different than other students. First of all, she's going— she is going to the World Cup qualifiers, World Cup qualifiers with her country. Um, I'll fix my spelling later. World Cup qualifiers. Uh, she's a better writer than me. She's going to the World Cup qualifiers and we need to send this email, send this in the mass email that we're gonna write. I'll write it for you before I'm done with this. And we need this to go to D3s and D1s. Don't worry about D2s, we're not gonna bother. When it goes to D3s, it's just going to go to the top academic one. She's really eloquent, very mature. In fact, when I saw her video, I thought she was a junior, and she's a 2028 freshman, which is excellent, good sign. So that's that. The next thing is every email we write, every email and subject line is gonna include a piece of the World Cup. I'll write it for you. And then camps. I'm gonna give you a list of camps I want her to go to. She's good enough and she will get interest. So I will give you that list once I put it together. And then the other piece that is different is we gotta fix her video. The order of her video is not okay, so we have to change it. The other thing is, I want the international stuff to be in its own video. Like, here's me playing internationally, separate, like a whole separate video, even if it's only 30 seconds. It's a big deal that she has footage just playing as an international. Then she can also keep it in her main video, but we'll have two different videos, club, high school, slash, and then international. And then we'll mix them together also. And we got to change the order of this. In terms of the order, I'll— I'm going to sit down and go through every clip and pick the orders that I want. And we'll be able to do do that because there's really good clips in here. The length is okay. Um, the other thing is, because she is good for her level, I'd like her to get on Instagram and Twitter. And we have a list of all their Instagram usernames, and I want her to DM them. I will teach you, I'll tell you what to say, like we've done with the other students. And then the first thing though, in the first meeting, is we, um, you know, I want, I want signups for camps and set up— I need to set up the video. So we just need to get her on a call so we can— I need to find out her contact information, her coach's contact information so we can create her video really nicely. And then we got to send it out quickly 'cause she's going in January to the World Cup qualifier. So I want the email going out like ideally a little bit before. It's okay if it's, I don't know, the coaches are not gonna necessarily go, but some could tune in live. So if she has her schedule, we want to send that out almost like a showcase. So which is super fun. The first thing is the ECNL Showcase, which is January 11th. This is actually more important. Do this first. More important. We're gonna do this first in terms of the mass email. We're gonna use the mass email as a showcase email. We can talk about this as well. And then after, we will do a follow-up, but also the World Cup. So in this email, we're gonna mention the World Cup qualifier. I'll help you do that. And we're also gonna mention it here. The World Cup, and then we'll do a World Cup-specific email. I'll help you guys with that. But yeah, very excited. This is a perfect student. You'll really get along with her. They're really nice. The email she's gonna write, so in terms of the camp, so to impress them, right? I want you to impress our clients as soon as you can. I want her to go into Masters. She must go to this camp. This is a must. She also needs to go to 60. She has to go to those two camps. They're really good. That's it for her. She's gotta go. And if she can go twice, if she can go twice to these, it's worth it. 'cause she's very good. So that's that. Then she can go to individual camps. Like I would say like when we make her top list of D3s, have her go even if there is no genuine interest. She's good enough. Hopefully we'll get genuine interest though. Then if the email's gonna read like this, so this is for the showcase in January, which will be the mass email. Dear Coach, you'll enter the name, then you're gonna say something genuine. Okay, then this is about her. So she's gonna, the subject line is gonna say World, I will say showcase name, then it'll say World Cup qualifying, qualifying, and then the normal stuff. Then she's gonna go, Dear Coach, my name is da da da, I represent my da da da Trinidad and Tobago, national team at the level, that's the age. I just put the age there. I play for ECNL, um, I play for ECNL. I play as a position, and I am a 2028, uh, and I am part of the 2020, and I am part of the 2028, uh, I'm part of the 2020 class. Um, and then she's gonna go for the D— this is, you have to do this for D1s And then there's going to be a different one for D3s. It's a little bit different for her. So for D3s, and then she's going to go— she has really good grades. So if there's any extra accolades you can ask her about, like, are you doing something extra in school? She can mention 1 or 2 extra. Or if she scored goals or something, she can actually mention 1 or 2 extra. And then she would say here, may I have permission to shake your hand in person? At the showcase. And this question comes right after the genuine. It's very important. She must ask this question. Now, the D1 schools will tell her she's not allowed to answer questions. Let them say she's not allowed. It's fine. I have attached my showcase schedule below. And then make sure you go to the template and you make sure you do it right. It has to be very specific. Time, field, et cetera. And then I've attached my schedule below. And then I wanted you to say this: I will be representing my country at the World Cup qualifiers. I will send my schedule for that after the showcase. And that's all you have to say. Then I've attached my schedule, showcase, and then her signature and everything else like you always do. Signature, et cetera. Okay, I'll help you through it, but this is a very exciting player, and we'll talk soon.
