Connor Beaton explains why women pull away from men who hide their needs, criticize, or manipulate to get them met. The real problem isn't having needs, it's the people-pleasing habit of hoping others will guess what you want. Men who become direct and honest about what they need see their relationships change.

Women don't pull away from a man who has needs. They pull away from a man who won't say what he actually wants or expects, or they pull away from a man who tries to criticize and complain his way into getting his needs met. And I see this all the time with men who are nice guys and people pleasers. And maybe you relate to this, right? There's something missing in your relationship. Maybe you're not getting the type or the frequency of intimacy and sexual connection that you want, and you find yourself chronically complaining and criticizing criticizing your wife or your girlfriend expecting a better result, but it never leads to what you want. I think maybe if I meet all of her needs all the time, no matter what, then maybe she'll reciprocate that in return and I won't have to tell her what I actually want, need, or expect. And it never works. The reality is, is that these patterns were ingrained in you in your childhood. You were taught to over-prioritize somebody else's needs in the hopes that maybe you'll get a morsel of your needs, wants, and desires met in return. And this pattern doesn't shift until you start to step into being more direct, being more assertive, and being more willing to be expressive and honest about your wants, needs, and desires. And this is exactly what we teach in the ManTalks Alliance. If you are ready to step out of being the nice guy, of being the people pleaser, you're ready to actually have the marriage and the relationship that you know is possible for yourself and your life, we've got a whole course and program on this that will help you to get the type of relationship and intimacy that you know you're capable of. Doors close by October 2nd. See you inside.
