Danielle Jhiani says the key to lasting recovery from OCD is learning ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) as a lifelong skill. Recognize OCD when it starts, expect the doubts, and use ERP early to stop the cycle before it takes hold. It's not about therapy visits when you're struggling, it's about knowing how to recover yourself.

The number one tip I have to get to and stay in that lifetime recovery stage is to learn ERP and make it a lifetime skill. When I went to therapy for ocd, I would go in and they would ask me what was going on in that moment and they would teach me some ERP techniques for that and then I would go home. What I do differently is I'm going to teach you how to recover for life. It's about how to recognize when OCD shows up, what to do about it and what that's going to look like in your future. When you expect the doubts and uncertainties and you can catch them really early and apply the ERP techniques that I teach you, that thing isn't going to stick. You're not going to go back into the OCD cycle because you're catching it early and you're responding to it in a healthy way, just like everybody without OCD does. You too can get to that lifetime recovery stage.
