Welcome back. My name is Danielle Thornton Gianni. I'm an OCD and anxiety recovery coach. Helping people recover from any OCD subset just like I have, so you can live a happy life and have happy, healthy relationships. Today we're going to talk about three reasons why you aren't getting OCD treatment. Now, a lot of times these reasons can seem like very legitimate reasons, but often they're coming from one of these three places at the core. So number one is doubt. OCD is nicknamed the doubting disease for a reason, because doubt very often creates a lot of excuses for us not to move forward and not to make a decision. Now, sometimes that doubt may sound like, well, I don't know if this is the right path for me, so I'm not going to do anything, or I don't know if this person knows enough to help me, or this person, I don't know doesn't have the same type of OCD subset that I do, or all kinds of reasons. Right? Your brain is going to give you a lot of different ways to doubt moving forward with treatment for ocd. And one of the things that I will tell you is that with recovery, what you're doing is you're learning to not let doubt get in the way of you moving forward despite the doubt. Right? Because the more we feed into the doubt, the more doubt is going to plague us and we want to stop that cycle. Reason number two that you're not moving forward with OCD treatment is fear. Fear can be very real. It can be very easy to notice. It can also be very subtle and it doesn't even feel like fear. A lot of times fear shows up just as avoidance because there's such a low level discomfort there. It doesn't feel like fear. And some for you it may feel like fear, but for others of you, it may just be a slight avoidance due to discomfort. And no matter what, this discomfort keeps us from moving forward, from growing, and from getting better. And what we have to do is to learn to move forward despite the fear. I know this can be uncomfortable, but again, part of the recovery process is learning to move towards the discomfort. Do those things anyway. And the payoff is that you will retrain your anxiety response and, and not only will the things that you're overcoming no longer be uncomfortable or fear based, but other things in life will stop becoming so uncomfortable and fear based because you are changing your brain at its core. Number three is just negative thoughts. Things like, I can't do it, it's not going to work for Me, I don't have enough money, right? These reasons and excuses and just negative thoughts that your brain is telling you that aren't really true because you can do it. Most of us can find money to invest in ourselves and our mental health. We're often spending money on things that are trivial and can be left behind for something that's a lot more important, like our mental health. I have a recovery based program that costs $27 per week, right. And for some people that's not a lot. For other people it is a lot. But most of us can invest in ourselves. If we really, really want something, we will do it. And investing in our mental health is something that's really important. So the fears, the doubts, avoidance and negative thoughts are really common reasons why people stay stuck in the OCD cycle for so long or they don't get to that full recovery stage. And, and I want you to know that even though these might feel strong, they're choices, they're conscious choices that you can choose to overcome. And once you stop listening to the doubts, the fears and the negative thoughts in your life, you are going to start to feel so much better. Not only that is doubt, fear and negative thoughts will start coming into your head a lot less often when we stop believing those thoughts, engaging in those thoughts, and choosing to act based on those thoughts.
