And so she did a fantastic solo podcast last week on Self Love with some amazing information. So if you have not had a chance to listen to the Self Love podcast that she did last week, please download it, share it with your friends and family. There's something in there for everybody. So with no further ado, I am super excited to talk to you about this topic today. It is something I felt like I was able and fortunate enough to tap into when I was younger and that's the ability to hear our inner guide. I truly believe that all of us have this inner guide inside of us that is available at any time if we just incorporate active listening skills and learn how to understand that inner guide, that inner voice and not push it aside. My ability to hear that and just follow it without any questions asked was critical for me in my younger years and that's what really helped me get in touch with my purpose and my passions from an early age. And so to this day I can truly say I haven't worked a day in my life. Now again, I know this sounds woo woo coming right out of my mouth right now, but I gotta tell you, it is critically important. So if you could just be patient with me again, even if this just gets us thinking, some of you guys might be more familiar than others, but just hang in there and see if you can be open minded to listening and thinking about this a little bit deeper. So I'm going to bring up two different terms. One term you're familiar with, it's called intuition. And I believe that is that inner voice speaking to us. And the other is egoition. And egoition is not intuition. And the way you can differentiate that is, is egoition. When you feel like something intuitively comes to you, but there's a lot of negotiating in your mind or a lot of dialogue around it, lots of mental conversation, then that's usually egoition and that's usually being driven by a place of desire, emotions, needs, wants, things like that. Where intuition is, it's no questions asked, it comes to you and there's this driving force, a pulling force pulling you into that direction of just having to do it, just knowing you need to do it, you don't have to sit there and process much information and question the why, you just move forward with it. And if you feel like you're having an intuition and inner guides, your inner guides talking to you a little bit, if it's pulling you in a direction, you feel that energy that I just have to do this, I need to do this, I know I need to do this. I don't know why I need to do it, but I know I need to do it, then that is that true intuition. If there's a lot of conversation, maybe I shouldn't or I think I should do this. Because if I do it this way and then that tends to be more egoition. So that deep knowing behind it with a feeling of pulling is intuition. Egoition has a sense of pushing, right? So it's a push feeling versus a pull feeling. And I truly believe that we have this inner guide that is untouched and on our side. It's the best team member we can have that is in line and knowing of where our purpose is and pulling us into that direction. And we have all these layers of social conditioning, of all these filters from an early age. And even the city we were born in and brought up in, the state, the country, the parents, all this stuff become buried sometimes to hearing that inner guide. And so I really believe that the inner guide first can be activated by just asking a question. Okay, so if we just ask a question and then give it space, quiet your mind and become the observer and start to watch it unfold, it's kind of like having A genie and a lamp in you. First of all, your intention is leading into the question. So that's the rubbing of the lamp and all sudden you ask the question, this genie pops out and then it just unfolds a little bit. So if you're out of the driver's seat at that point. But we have to get our analytical brains out of the way and we have to allow for it to cultivate and to start being the observer so we can really pay attention to all the little details and the little signs and information that can come our way that this inner guide is trying to connect with us. And so we are the barrier from being able to pay attention and hear those signs, see those signs, right? And then the big thing is to have the courage then to follow them. Now, I'm not saying we stop implementing strategy into our life. I don't think you should jump on everything that pops into your brain. And God forbid, if I would have done that, I would have about 50 more businesses and I'd be broke because I'm the guy who sees the shiny object and I have so much passion around it that I just want to follow that too. So for me, it's a lot of actually really listening to that inner voice because or that inner guide. Otherwise if I would have listened to my egoition, I would have continued down some other paths that would have distracted me and being deterrent from where my intuition, where my inner guide is trying to take me. And again, is it a pull feeling or. Or is it a push feeling? Ask a question. Quiet your mind. This is great for meditative space. Quiet your mind and then become the observer throughout the following days, weeks, months. And all of a sudden, little things will start coming your way. It's kind of like now how our smartphones and how Google's listening to us at all the time. It's like you say something out loud of an interest or something that you're passionate about and all of a sudden your phone, next thing it's popping up all these ads and directing those things to you. And so it's really no different. There's just this bigger universe working in our favor that's much stronger and better than Google. But we don't have the image or the text smacking us right in the face. So we have to be able to step back and what are those other signs that are being offered up to us? And a couple stories that I'll share. Early on, in my early, early 20s, I was probably actually 21, I was spinning my wheels. I had Opened up a catering company, Actually had the first food truck, I think, in Missouri. Very fancy, Metro Gourmet. And even though it was awesome, unfortunately, I had experienced my first bad business partner, if you will. And so I didn't want to be in Missouri. And here I have this food truck I spent a lot of time rebuilding and putting energy into. And one day I was just asking the question, what am I going to do? I need to do something else. Where are my passions at? What's out there for me? And my girlfriend came home one day and was sad and upset that her best friend was moving out of the state. And so I was comforting her and I was asking her where her friend was moving to and why was she moving. And she said she was going to massage school. And immediately at that time, so many other things could have came to me. But immediate at that time, it really did resonate with me. That was something I needed to pursue. And I didn't even question it. I didn't even think about, ooh, put that in my top 10 list, and maybe I'll go to culinary school and continue on with that, or architecture. None of these other things were popping up. So I didn't. I wasn't, like, accumulating this list, and I wasn't putting it in there. It was just a deep sense of knowing and pulling me and into that direction. And it resonated because I had always worked on people's bodies and stuff like that. Didn't even know what I was doing at the time. But there was something there that just clicked with me, and it was a deep knowing. So then I was driving down the road, you know, this might have been some weeks later, I don't remember. And I'm like, okay, so I'm going to go do this thing. I'm going to go find a massage school. But where am I going to? Where am I going to move to? I need to get out of this state. I just don't. It's just not my place. And so I'm driving around and literally as I'm asking that question in my mind, James Taylor came on the radio and started singing Going to Caroline in my Mind. And so I was like, that's my sign. That's my sign. And something again was pulling me. I felt this pulling energy. And so I went to a Barnes and Noble and I had found this massage magazine. And in the back, there was a list of accredited schools. And there was only one school, one accredited school in North Carolina. So I. My girlfriend and I decided to do A road trip to go check the school out. So we drove down to Silk Hoop City, North Carolina, which was about 45 minutes outside of Raleigh. And when I was taking a Did.

The school was built on 60 acres of land, hiking trails, like beautiful vaulted ceilings, tons of light. Just really, just like a really peaceful place. Just really beautiful. And as I'm taking a tour of the school and they're taking me to the classrooms and stuff, we open up this door where they keep the massage tables. And there was a pile of hand percussion drums. And at that time I played the djembe. And so it was just again, hey. My inner voice was like, you're in the right place. My inner guide was just smacking me in the face and was making it so obvious. And that path just kept pulling me and pulling me. Before massage school, I was interested in acupuncture, but during my acupuncture massage school, one of the anatomy instructors that came and happened to be an acupuncturist. So it came full circle right back to me. And so that has been a continuation throughout my whole life. Even when I was in massage school, I had this hit. We were writing down like a name of a business if we were going to start a business. And Integrative Health just came out of me. I didn't write down a list of a variety of names. I didn't strategize what name was more marketable or what would connect with people more and more. It was just, literally just came out of me. Integrative Health. So fast forward from that. I think I graduated from that school in 1996. No, maybe 94, somewhere in the 90s, early 90s. But in 2001, I opened up Integrative Health. And now it is 2023, and Integrative Health is still rocking and rolling and it just kept building and building. So that's not to boast about my story. That is to let you know how important hearing that inner guide Is it literally just pulled me, like sometimes I didn't pick what I'm doing, it picked me. I feel like I didn't even have a chance to decide what I wanted to do. I just feel like all of a sudden, here I am and I'm like, oh, I've never questioned to this day that I'm supposed to be in the world of health and wellness and doing the things that I'm doing at all. I just keep building on it and the interests keep opening, the doors keep opening, and it's just pulling me forward and I'm in riding the current. I'm currently the founder of a technique called down needle therapy. And my metrics are not how much money down needle therapy is making or integrative health or any of these things. My metrics is not how much money it's making. My metrics. And maybe that makes me a terrible business partner, by the way, but my metrics is. Am I being pulled? Is that energy? Do I have the desire? Do I still have the desire to learn more? Do I still have the desire that's pulling me in the direction, in that direction that I need to go? Is it bringing me passion? Is it fun? Am I having fun? It's my creative outlet, right? So if you in that space and there's creativity and there's things pulling you forward and it's just opening and unfolding, you're like, I don't even know how I got here. Just it all happened. And it's beautiful and it's awesome. And maybe it's not in your profession, maybe it's in your relationships, maybe it's in other places, showing up in other places of your life, but that inner guide and the ability to hear the inner guide, the ability to hear it and have the courage to step into it. And then once you do that, once you do that for the first time and it works out so well, you build trust in hearing that voice and listening to it, and you continue. And then you do it again and it builds trust. You do it again and you do it again. Now I can tell you the opposite has happened for me for sure. I've tested the waters. I was listening to egoition that I interpreted as intuition. But if I would have paid attention to how much inner dialogue was going on in my mind, how much there was, and it wasn't a pull, it was a push. And I was trying to push into something. I've done some other business things that were not in my lane of purpose, although I had fun and I've learned from them. There was some. It was much harder. It's always easier when you're in your lane than it is when you're going against the flow and not in your lane. I've challenged it and it hasn't worked out, but there's always a lesson in that too. And that's what you take from that is if you are following the egotion versus intuition and you learn some hard lessons, we gotta make sure we learn from them. And then sometimes that learning is like just reevaluating and reassessing and looking at. Were you really hearing your inner guide? Were you really listening to that intuition and being able to feel what that difference felt like? So not just that you're learning by oh, if I were to do that again, I would do it this, this way. But you're actually learning viscerally on how that feeling feels. So next time this thing comes your way, you can feel like, oh, that's not really, that's not really my inner guide talking. That's my desire talking, right? That's my want talking. And always just pause with my wife and I have a rule when we were looking at buying something, we have our 24 hour rule and it's you get excited, you get in the motions, you know of it and so you're like, okay, I like this, we like it, but we're not going to do it today. We're going to wait 24 hours and if we still feel that same desire and that same passion within 24 hours, and for you it might be 48, 72 hours, whatever works for you. So you don't have to rush into that decision, you don't have to rush into egotion or intuition, right? If it's truly your inner guy talking to you, it's going to be there in 24 hours. So just to recap a little bit of this, the ability to hear your inner guide, to remove the barriers, the boundaries, the layers around our ability to hear and listen to that inner guide. Understanding the difference between egoition, that pushing feeling, the analytics, the internal dialogue versus the intuition, the sense, the deep knowing that I want to jump into it now, no questions asked, right? Understanding that the ability to just ask a question, right? If you're lost, if you don't know what direction to head into, if you don't know what your next career move is going to be, if you don't know where you're supposed to be in a relationship, if you don't know what state you're supposed to live in, whatever it is just ask the question and then become the observer. Right? Do that before you start creating your list of the 20,000 places you want to live, right? See what kind of starts showing up. It might be the next day you pick up a random magazine, and on the front cover, there's a perfect place for you. And the answer is right there. And then you dig into it a little bit more. It shows up in funny ways, right? From conversations that somebody might have with you. Because one is, we're tapping into this retinacular system or the reticular activating system. Sorry, not retinacular. The reticulating activating system. And in that system, that is the layers of filters. And we start moving filters and we start dialing the filter into that. And that fine tunes us into hearing that inner guide a little bit more, right? That fine tunes us into being able to see the more obvious stuff that jumps up into us and smacks us in the face. And if you keep ignoring it, it's going to keep smacking. And if you don't listen, you're going to get smacked really hard and it's going to knock you down. So feel the pull. The inner guide has your best interest. It's aligned with your purpose. So starting tomorrow, starting to the day, after you listen to this podcast, I want you to start challenging some of this philosophy, some of this dialogue that we're having today. Once you ask a question, okay, become the observer. Just let it unfold. See what starts showing up to you. See if you can start listening to the thoughts that come into your mind. And is that an egoishin kind of being driven by egotion, or is that true intuition? Start to become aware of. Is there a lot of internal dialogue, a lot of noise, a lot of chatter? Or is there that pulling feeling versus that pushing feeling? All right, this is good for you. You will love it. It will change so many things in your life. Now, if you listen to the egotion and you're claiming its intuition, don't hold me accountable and don't say it didn't work. Okay? So the first thing is to get the sense right. We're just fine tuning. We're taking out all the extra layers of noise and just fine tuning our senses. All right, friends, I could talk about this all day long. I probably said the same thing five times over again. But repetition is key. So please go out there and start hearing your inner guide. See where it takes you.
