In a multi‑speaker panel, the leaders of MentorList reflect on the organization’s 2025 achievements and outlook. They recount memorable events—including an AFL luncheon with Andrew Demetriou, Dan Rosen, and Kylie Watson‑Wheeler, and a surprise appearance by Snoop Dog g—highlighting the community’s vibrancy. Geographic expansion is outlined, with new networking hubs in Adelaide, Singapore, New Zealand, and broader APAC opportunities, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to connecting members across regions. I think MentorList is a fantastic organization that can create an environment where people can share ideas, can bounce ideas off each other. I think the major force was the situation in the US and the change of government there, and he has significantly changed the world dynamic. What has changed a little bit, I think, is things like the oil price. Interest rates have come down, probably not as much as they were expected to. And indeed, the knock-on inflation effect of some of that, the main awareness has been in energy. Government policy globally is still very, very confused on this. I think that that has affected the whole currency market and commodity market. You know, who would have thought that we'd have a $4,000 an ounce gold price? I think that China and the US will come to some form of mutual agreement. That is likely. It's in both of their interests.
Actually, one of our new members this year sitting in a mastermind session, and there was a bit of a hold the mirror moment up. And this individual had been with the same company for, I think it was 18 years, and in that moment made the decision, well, actually, I'm going to take the next step. And then the next conversation was congratulating him on his new CEO role. So it's fantastic.
We've passed 400 members for the first time. It's just a reaffirmation of, you know, why we actually set out to establish MentorList in the first place.
A number is a number, but it's the individual that we really sort of focus on. Expanding into Adelaide and Rightly or wrongly, a lot of decisions, especially at the board level around who's going to be an NED or who's going to be a C-level executive, are made within those sort of eastern states. So having the ability to network into that opens up access to those types of decisions.
Being a footy tragic, I obviously loved the AFL luncheon that we had. You know, having a panel conversation with individuals such as Andrew Demetriou, Dan Rosen, and Kylie Watson-Wheeler was was incredible.
Never thought we'd have Snoop Dogg at one of our network events, so that was a kind of a nice little surprise.
This year was an exciting development as well when we launched our lifestyle division and launching our partnership with Sanctum.
You can go really focused and have a great career, have a great business, you can build wealth, you can really focus on this slice of, you know, your life, but is that at the detriment of this peripheral vision, which is family, health, wellness? And so that's really what Lifestyle is about. It's about broadening that circle of life.
When you said we've been in business for 10 years, it was, it was one of those moments of, oh really?
Finding something you're passionate about or getting passionate about it and growing that passion throughout time absolutely makes sense because if you weren't passionate about it, it's pretty hard work.
I mean, 2026 will be obviously incredibly exciting now that we're launching into Singapore and New Zealand.
It comes back to That's where we sort of started from, asking our members what they want and then within reason, go and give that to them.
Provide an opportunity for members in the APAC region to get together. Also for our members that are Australian-based that do travel through to Singapore to also meet other members in the Singapore region.
It's been fantastic to see it grow, not just geographically, but just in terms of the impact that it's having.
It's a great initiative and, and certainly Most of the members, I, I feel, have received huge benefit from it.
