I've lived out of a suitcase for 14 months

Devon Canup has lived out of a suitcase for 14 months across 12 countries, moving every 7-10 days. His businesses grew from $150k to $400k monthly revenue, funding a $15-30k travel budget. He credits the shift to building teams and systems that run without him, after years of $80k debt and financial struggle.

I've been living out of my suitcase and living out of Airbnbs and hotels for the past 14 months now, since February of 2025. So however long ago that is. And since then, I have now moved to a different Airbnb or hotel on average about every 7 to 10 days. And I have been to, I don't know, countless 40, 50 different like Airbnbs and hotels. And I've been to 12 countries in the past year. I went to Mexico, I went to the United Kingdom, Germany, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, and obviously to the US. So yeah, whatever that is, I guess 11 countries. Okay. So in that time period, I have actually gone from making about $100,000-$150,000 a month to now my businesses do about $350,000 a month. Actually $400,000. We had a month where we did $400,000 in a month of cash touching the bank account from the businesses. And in that time, like, I have grown faster than I ever would have in any other way in life. And the whole point of this video is just like one, to document just like that it's possible. You can just straight up live out of hotels and Airbnbs. I usually try to keep my costs between $20,000 and $30,000 a month. When it comes to my cost, I would say $15,000 to $30,000. It depends on what's going on, and how much I'm trying to travel and how many new experiences that I want. And I've been able to just stay in some of the coolest places ever. I met so many amazing people. And I've been able to just really grow as a person. This is why I got into business in the first place was to make a ton of money and to be able to have experiences. I love experiences, going to restaurants, meeting people, seeing new cities, seeing new places, seeing tourist attractions, different attractions, and just being able to constantly ask myself, who am I? Who is Devon Canup? Who is the person that I am? And I came to the realization at a young age, it's like, I don't wanna live on a deathbed full of regrets. I want to check off every box in my life. I want to go ahead and not have any other box left unchecked in my life. And to just go and experience life for once. Uh, school, the education system, when I was in college, it's all about just like working for somebody for 20, 30, 40 years and then being able to enjoy your life. And I realized that that was not for me, that wasn't something that I wanted for myself. And so I ended up sacrificing the first half of my 20s to be able to get to the point where I was making some serious enough income to do whatever I want every single day. And so it took about 6 years of me losing money, having negative $3,000 in my bank account at all times using the overdraft feature, hitting $80,000 in credit card debt, and just honestly just eating shit and living in the, the biggest periods of isolation of my life for me to figure it out. Eventually I did, but it was just like I told myself, I was willing to do whatever it took. I was willing to eat as much shit as it took. I was willing to have to go through as many trials and tribulations. I was willing to go through as many getting stabbed in the back to making as many— all the mistakes possible and just embarrassing myself and looking like an absolute idiot, if that's what it took for me to become successful, to become rich, and to do whatever I want for the rest of my life. And now here I am on the other side of all of that, living that life, enjoying that life, and sharing it with you to let you know that it is possible. Because the reason why I make these videos is because I remember going through these times and how hard it was. And now the experiences that I get to live now today is just immaculate. It is insane. And so in the past 14 months now, I've realized that just like my favorite thing in life is to go to someplace I've never been to before. Like right now, actually, I've been in Boston, Massachusetts for the past month, uh, just existing here, just living here and just living day-to-day life as if I lived in that place and just living that experience in all these different places. Before this, I was in New York City, uh, just for a week. And then I'm actually going to go live in Europe for 3 months. After all of this. And I, I love just being in these places and just existing there, just being there and just being a person. I love going shopping. I love having these new experiences, walking through the beautiful park, seeing the incredible architecture, the history of the places, and just living and existing without having anywhere I need to be, without anything I need to be. I don't have to pretend to be anybody. I get to be whoever I want every single day, and it is the most freeing feeling that I could ever try to articulate for you. Just being able to just exist and just be is the most beautiful gift that you can give to yourself. And to be able to enjoy, to realize that like this life that we live is so incredible, and that you really can accomplish anything that you put your mind to. And there's something about that, like working through hard goals and achieving hard goals and just being the person that went through those trials and tribulations and on the other side of it. Like, I could lose all of the money out of my bank accounts, all the money could get drained out of my stocks, my investments, my crypto, my $40,000 Pokémon card collection. Like, I could lose absolutely everything. And I know that I will make it through that. And it's that feeling of just like, of having gone through it, of going through those experiences and understanding that whatever else comes next, bring it on. Because you go through all these hard times, you've gone through the moments when the business just straight up did not work. You went through those times when you didn't know how you were going to pay rent, keep the lights on, and to keep going. And so it's like that freeing feeling of being able to just travel and do whatever, whenever. You see, by the time I turned 20 years old, I had moved 20 times in my life. My parents did not— weren't a part of the military or anything like that. But instead, my dad tried so many different businesses, he ended up failing and becoming an employee in a corporate company and working his way up the ladder there. And so I got to see a lot of different life. I had a tough time fitting into these different places, and I realized I never wanted to fit into any one specific place, uh, that I was forced to fit into. Instead, I wanted to be a part of the group of people that don't fit into anywhere, and instead they're the ones that just get to go and live their lives. And it was that, like, discovery of there is just a completely different group of people out there, and there's a different life that you can live and a different experience that you can just ultimately live. That you will— that like when you become a part of that group, it feels like the most satisfying, fulfilling thing ever because you're part of the people that are the 0.001% of people that did figure it out. And I believe that when you put the work in and you do the things that it takes to make it happen, the locking in of, of not seeing the light of day for months at a time and getting onto the other side of all of this, that is the biggest blessing and the biggest gift that you could ever achieve and the biggest success that it ever feels like. So, um, yeah, now my day-to-day life looks like this. I usually grind it out for a week or two, you know, depending on what projects I have going on. Uh, like right now I'm in the process of really figuring out, uh, paid advertising for one of my businesses. And so right now I'm kind of in grind mode figuring that out. So I'll usually slow down my travels for 2 weeks or so at a time rather than bouncing around too much. And then once I see the other side of the project, I get it done. Then I just go screw around and have fun for the next month or so. So I do push it through all the work that I need to do and pick up as many data points as possible and just make decisions. And then once those decisions are made, once the work has been put in, then I just go enjoy the rest of the next month, the next 2 months, next 3 months. And I don't think too much about working. And it's like all comes from— you need to have leverage, you need to have systems, you need to have processes that run without you. The reason why I'm able to make so much money and choose whether or not I want to work is because I have very talented people that work for me. It's because I have a big vision that is large enough for other people to fit their goals inside of it, and for them to— when by helping us achieve our goals, helps them achieve their goals as well. And it's creating something in a movement that is so big and so powerful of helping people get low-key rich, of helping people change their lives, of of the YouTube channels that I run and the content that we get to entertain and educate people with on those videos, that I get to just like live, uh, my best life because of my ability to create a vision, uh, be so aggressively, um, so aggressively passionate and, and forward thinking about executing on that and doing whatever it takes to make it happen. That built me this life. It's, it's realizing that this day and age with the internet, with AI, with technology, with social media, you can, you can create something and just create a immense amount of leverage with the content that you make, with the products that you make, with the— with everything that you do inside of your lives. So what's the point of this video? It really is just to like, it's possible. My goal on this channel is to give you guys hope, is to tell you guys what is up. Uh, sometimes I feel like I'm, uh, just speaking out to the void and stuff. So definitely leave in the comments, you know, what questions do you guys have? What, what, what parts, uh, about this video did you really like and love? Um, but My goal really is just to like just be that gift and that blessing to you guys as I've been able to receive many, many times in my life. Uh, it's possible. You can do it. You can go travel and do whatever it is that you want. Go experience those experiences. And if you put your mind to it, if you work towards it and you, uh, pour everything towards it, there's absolutely zero reason that you can't make it happen for yourself. So that's what I got. Love y'all. See y'all in the next one.
