The YouTube Apocalypse Nobody Is Talking About Correctly

Devon Canup breaks down YouTube's recent mass terminations tied to AI policy changes. Channels got hit for political deepfakes, AI storytelling, sexualized content, and low-effort spam. High-quality, well-researched AI-assisted channels are generally safe, but avoid those niches and vary your thumbnails.

Apocalypse is happening. There's been an estimated of 3 million plus YouTube channels that have now been terminated or demonetized on YouTube since they came out with their new, what is it, June, July 15th update, where they were going to take down a bunch of AI channels. So this sounds scary, but in reality I have a bunch of my own, like faceless YouTube channels. We even use some AI to produce the videos. We haven't had any issues. We're actually making record months right now. So. So what is actually happening? What's getting terminated? Terminated? I've been seeing so many people on X freaking out about this and I Coach like over 800 people building faceless YouTube channels with. So we've had a couple issues, but not really. But I do see people that are very like afraid or paranoid of the situation. So I want to clear the air. We're going to go through, look at exactly what channels are actually having issues that are getting terminated right now. Um, and then kind of what are the patterns and the trends that we are seeing? So right now I will say, just to give you the general answer is if you just make good content, you will be fine. Like, if you make high, like you make videos that have value in them, as long as it's not garbage or slop or just you're trying to sensationalize something, you'll be fine. If anything, I think YouTube's going back to a place where it's a good platform again, because right now they're competing against Netflix, against every other platform like TikTok or Instagram or X. Right now the social media competition is getting crazy, especially with AI, and I see YouTube kind of trying to take a lead and everything where they're making YouTube a way better platform now. So if you make a genuine channel, right now is the best opportunity ever. Anyways, let's jump into my computer. Okay, so before we jump into the terminated channel list of like, what are the patterns that I've seen? I saw this guy on X. I don't remember who it was, but I can just put this link in the, in the description of this video. You can actually scroll through and see what channels are actually getting terminated right now. It doesn't show the ones that are having monetization issues, but you can just scroll and scroll and scroll. So every time the channel gets terminated, you'll be able to see it inside of here. Looks like it has filters and stuff and whatnot. But it's been pretty interesting. So these are the patterns that I've noticed. It seems like number One. First of all, we're seeing a lot of political channels getting terminated. And a lot of it's just like fake AI politics. Like, I keep seeing, like, it seems like half of them are this, which makes sense. You know, it's like you can't just have like all this news content going on. That, for one, doesn't go in alignment of the agenda that, you know, the US has for what they want to have there for their news. But then also there's a lot of fake news and stuff that they have to fight up against. So there's a lot of news channels. I would say, like, if you stay out of news, you should be fine. I have a challenge in geopolitics, and we're perfectly fine and okay. But it's like we do really good research. It's not just like some AI garbage. It's like we're taking different perspectives of things and it's like an actual legit video. And we take pride in trying to get the facts accurate and making very informational, valuable content. And we don't try to sensationalize anything. If anything, we're just looking for, you know, what's going on in the news and just giving our take on it. A lot of these channels right now are just literally fake news pages or they're trying to push some sort of agenda and they're just sensationalizing stuff so that that makes sense. Like, that can't be healthy for a platform for like YouTube. So the next trend that I see here is got a little glitch there, AI storytelling. So right now YouTube owns Veo, which is like this AI platform. Like, if anything, Google and YouTube love AI content. That being said, it seems like they really have a tough time with like, fake storytelling content. Let me see if I can find one on here. I've seen a few of them, like this one. This is like a talented girl leaves a civilized world. Kind, talented woman to quietly build a house. It seems like YouTube likes AI, but fictional AI stories, it seems like it has like a stance, a strong stance against it. I'm seeing this, like, somewhat frequently. Like, here's like some sort of like Arabic travel channel or looks like meditation channel. It's like AI. There's another one, see, like this one right here. Whispers of the Horse. So AI storytelling. It seems like they are taking like a strong stand against it. That's like fictionalized storytelling. So I would probably not start one of those channels. I don't know where the future of this goes because I kind of like the idea of this type of content, but they're just really taking a stand. I think right now they're getting a huge allegations of AI slob. So they're trying to take a stand up against that. So maybe in the next six months to a year they might re pivot to this. But it seems like they're okay if you use AI to supplement what you're talking about or something like piece of content that you are making. So if you can use it more just like supplemental rather than the content that it seems like, that'll be okay. I've seen it's like one in three videos if you log on to like a kid's channel now these days is like this AI storytelling. So they're trying to find some like good balancing way of having like storytelling but not creating this like, you know, hyper unrealistic world essentially so and playing it off like it's not AI. So that's been interesting seeing a few of these. I still see a lot of channels that are AI storytelling that don't have any issues, but I do see a good amount of them on this terminated channel list. So that brings us over to the next point, which this one, I. I think it makes sense. Like they have a lot of raunchy kids channels that are getting terminated right now, which I think is good. I think it's disgusting that you do like raunchy kids channels. This is like a brain rot page, it looks like right here. But I've seen a few of them on here. I may not find it right away, But anyways, there was definitely some like raunchy kid stuff. Like this one was like a cute kid in AI storytelling. It just gets kind of weird. Like you see like this image right here. Like there's some. Definitely some like weird stuff that's on the platform that they're trying to clean up. And I think what's happening is, is they're like playing it off as if it's not kids content when it definitely is. And then they're trying to like game the system. And I don't think YouTube likes that when you just make this like, you know, not good kids content. So the next one is IP violations. This comes in the form of a few different things. Let me pause this recording real quick. So that also comes into like effect with this like clipping channels. Like I've seen a lot of like IP issues on here. Let's see if we can find a couple. Just scroll down a little bit. Obviously some like this one, like Mr. Ballin hourly, like I don't think this is actually Mr. Ballin's channel. He's like a big YouTuber, if you don't know him, where they're just like taking his content and then pretending to be hit one of his pages. Like that obviously makes sense. Like, here's another Mr. Ballin page that's like, definitely not him. Joe Rogan pages. There's a lot of these Joe Rogan pages that are out there. Don't do a compilation channel, to be honest, of like other people's content unless you have their permission, which totally makes a lot of sense. And then this one right here brings us over to one of the other ones. Let me pause this real quick. So that one goes under this classification number seven that I wrote down, which is like obvious community guidelines issues. So like this, they're just trying to make these like insanely sexualized women, which it looks like a lot of these are actually AI, but there's a lot of like sexualized content that's out there. There's a lot of like weird sexual content that is being put out on the platform. Those like definitely make sense that they're getting taken down. Um, and then like this, it looks like they're just stealing other people's clips, which, you know, can be like a huge issue that they have on YouTube. And then there's a lot of space content too. I didn't really put this on this list here, but there's a lot of space content that is getting taken down that's just like fake space news. I classify that as news, fake space news. And, and then off. And then some of these like low effort content channels where it's just like they just kind of spam a bunch of content like, here's how to speak English course. But they're just really just like spamming a ton of videos in a short period of time. And there's just like very low effort. It seems like YouTube really wants to be like, compete against like Netflix, but then have like real people and personalities or at least real valuable content. Like these media publishing companies. Gambling. You'll see gambling getting take down, which is like kind of a community guidelines violations. I'll even see like the occasional hunting video and stuff like that. Okay, so that brings us over to what are the last ones that we have on here? So this one there is the random channel that doesn't make sense. I will be honest. Like sometimes I scroll through and there is the occasional channel that was terminated that I can't put a finger on it. Why that was like A lot of these obviously make sense. There's like a fishing channel that I found. If I scroll down just a little bit here, like this one, I don't understand why this channel got taken down. Maybe they stole these videos that does happen from time to time. Like this one doesn't make sense to me. This seems like a normal, like a normal channel seems like pretty good content. I bet if this person submits a claim to YouTube or posts on Twitter or X, I still call it Twitter, they'll probably get this channel reinstated pretty quickly and won't have any issues. I've been seeing a lot of people that are these kind of like wrongfully terminated channels that happen that's don't have any like that they're able to actually get it reinstated. Same like this one. I don't like this one. They use a similar. Sometimes when you use a similar thumbnail like this where they have like the same thumbnail style, I have seen them have some issues with it. If you're like one of these kind of middle sized channels, this is another one of those where it was like probably accidentally terminated. They should be able to get it reinstated to be honest. Let me see. There was like I want to show the fishing channel that I found that just doesn't make any sense. So like this one, like I don't think there's any issues with these videos. It's just, I think the thumbnails just look too similar every single time. So they think it's like AI slop. Which honestly kind of makes sense there. But I don't know if I'm gonna be able to find this fishing channel that I had on here. But it's okay, you guys can kind of get the point. As long if you have like repeat thumbnails it seem like they have a little bit of an issue. So make sure to kind of change up your thumbnail styles every so often. Even though I know it's not optimized for clip through rate and oh, here it is. I wanted to show this one. Like this channel didn't really make sense to me. But I would assume I can't pull up their entire channel. I would assume that it's just because their thumbnails just look very similar. So that does seem to be like the wrong fully flagged thing where it's just like they just think that this is like a garbage channel that's just repost, reposting the same video over and over again. There is some glitches in the AI software for sure. So I think That'll get patched up here soon. These pages, like this one should just post on X and they'll get it read saved pretty quickly. So. And then the last one that I had on here, I don't know why I showed this one last, but it's just general AI slop. So there's like, I think it was like at the very beginning. There's just some like weird channels that are just posting like some slop, like this stuff, like some weird like Pope channel that's doing like AI Pope videos. There's a lot of AI body cam channels that I've been seeing lately. But then a lot of just like weird garbage like this stuff. This is like another like kind of like AI slob channel. I don't understand why they have an issue with this channel niche specifically, but it just, again, it seems like YouTube's really taking a stand on that stuff. Those are my thoughts on the new, like, AI termination. I'll put the links down below or the link down below of that terminated list. You guys can take a look at it. It's pretty interesting to see the patterns. Most of the ways that I teach people to build faceless YouTube channels or AI channels have nothing to do with anything that we're showing there. And I've seen other gurus online teach how to like build these channels. And I knew from day one that like, it wasn't a good idea. I was kind of pushed away from finding like this low effort, weird stuff, the content that was getting demonetized. But if you literally just do any videos except for those ones, you should be fine and have no issues other than like you saw like the thumbnail style that had. The repeat style had some issues. So it seems like if you just. Every other thumbnail, you kind of just use a different thumbnail style. You can go back to using those proven formats, but not just have like 10 in a row where they all look exactly the same. You'll be perfectly fine. So anyways, if you want your own faceless YouTube channel and having my team and I help you build it out, I'll put a link down below to apply to work with us and join fca. So anyways, yeah, if you guys have any questions, drop it down in the comments down below. Hopefully this clears the air for you guys a little bit on the YouTube termination policy that's going on.
