This is your sign to go all in

Devin Canup talks about fully committing to your goals, overcoming fear and failure, and eliminating distractions. He shares personal stories and practical advice for success in business, health, and personal development.
If you've been looking for a sign, something to tell you it's finally time to take that leap and fully commit to your dreams, then let this be it. This isn't another motivational speech. It's actually a wake up call. Today we're going to be diving deep into what it truly means to go all in and how doing so can transform your life. Whether it's for your career, a passion project or personal development. Now is the moment to stop hesitating and to start acting. So let's get into it. First of all, we need to understand what it means to go all in. And here's the thing is it means something completely different depending on the area of your life that we are talking about. This applies to like self improvement, going all in on, improving ourselves, becoming a more effective human being, like developing our own emotional tolerance and our own mental strength, or even health and wellness, getting jacked, eating healthy, or anything to do with kind of like us in our bodies and our effectiveness mentally and physically in developing that or for professional growth. This means, you know, advancing in your career, taking on that next new position or that next new chapter of your life, or whether it be skill development, maybe it's like you're trying to learn a new skill set to become a more effective human being as we talk about very frequently. Or it could be something like developing your leadership or becoming a more influential person, developing your personal brand building, building a brand online. Or we talk about, you know, starting a business a lot on this channel, developing your first business, YouTube channel or whatever business that you're getting into. And so here are the characteristics of what it means to go all in. Let's dive into that and then I'll tell you guys a quick little like kind of personal story that aligns with all this. So someone that's going all in is someone that's dedicated to doing whatever it takes to make that thing happen. And this doesn't mean that necessarily sacrificing your livelihood or your mentality or your sanity, but it does mean committing to, doing whatever it takes to going all in. And second of all, it means sometimes taking a, a risk, taking a leap of faith of making that jump, starting that business, doing that venture or that thing that we've been putting off and finally doing it, finally taking the shot. Or for some of us it means to focus and just in combination of taking the risk and dedicating ourselves towards this thing, but also just focusing on the goals, making sure that we are have that laser like focus that we talk about. And developing ourselves into people that are able to move like wildfire without necessarily having to put in the hours. For me, like I make $300,000 a month without working more than four hours a day. And that's because of my effectiveness and my willingness to go all in to set myself up to be completely strategic and being able to have the most amount of leverage possible. The next is like persistence and it's regardless of the failures or the things that happen, it's you show up anyways and it's being persistent about making sure that this thing happens and turning any sort of failure into, instead of it being just a failure and a loss, instead treating it as a lesson and, and turning transmutating failures into lessons. And also it involves strategic planning and being strategic with what is it that we're working towards, what are the steps that we need to get there, to get to that goal. And we're going to be breaking all of that down inside of this video. And so there is a difference of a half hearted effort and dipping your toes in the water versus a full commitment. Like I have this pool right here. There's a difference of me dipping my toes into the water and just be like, okay, yeah, I feel it. I feel the water versus getting on this rock right here, standing on top of the waterfall and doing a cannonball into the water. There's a complete difference. One is I'm committing to going all in versus versus one's kind of like, oh yeah, I don't know, maybe. And the difference of what you're looking for is you've made too many half hearted commitments, you haven't gone all in. You say you want the things, you say you want that dream life, you say you want to have that freedom, you say you want to make more money, you say you want to have that healthy body and you want to finally take your health seriously. But you haven't fully committed to going all in. And that's why you're facing the symptoms that you are facing. Your fear of not going all in and not committing is holding you back. And you know, for me I found business in college. I was going to school for computer science for those of you that don't know. And when I was going to school, you know, I picked that degree because A, I kind of like programming and computer stuff and techie stuff at first is what I thought. But more so I was probably in it more for the money and knowing like the career advancements that I would have was fast track compared to anything else until I discovered business until I found out that you can make money from anywhere and, and be able to make more than a doctor's salary monthly 1. As soon as I found that and as soon as that, like, I saw that that was a reality and I had enough proof to realize that it's so possible, I decided that I wanted to do that. But I reached, I reached a crossroads, crossroads in my life. What I saw was the difference of the people that had massive success versus the people that didn't, that were the next failure case was the ability to go all in, no matter what the life circumstances were right then and there. But instead making decisions for their future self, which was to live the future now, to become that person now, to go all in and do take the risks and do everything that you can to make that thing happen when the motivation and the inspiration is there because it's fleeting. And luckily I had, I ran into some of the right mentors and some of the right people and they showed me this more than anybody else. I had this mentor. He was doing at the time like $300,000 a month with his real estate brokerage. And he was showing me like behind the scenes, behind the curtain, what it looked like for him to run his business. And what got him there was not, you know, by chance, as much as, like most of us want to believe her, he wasn't necessarily an overnight success. What it was is just he was always trying new stuff. He was doing, he was taking action. Whenever he found something, whenever he was inspired, he did something about it. And he was always moving, he was always taking action. He was always. He was so all in. He was so like, there's no other option in his life other than just becoming the best, having the best brokerage and the, in the, in the state for him. All he had to do then, now that after he made that decision was find the ways to become the best at it and actually just do the thing. It was just the action part. He was. He had no more decisions to make. He already made the decision. He just had to do the work then at that point. And so I came to that same crossroad. I had to realize, do I keep trying to finish out school or do I go all in on business? And so as much as I thought I loved coding and computer stuff, what I realized is I love the idea of being able to do exceptional things in my life. And I realized I had to make a decision. And it wasn't easy, but I realized that I needed to drop out of college, I needed to Go all in. Because otherwise, who knows what would happen if I waited another year or two, tried out a job, kind of did this on the side, and I never went all in. And so luckily, I was surrounded by people that told me to go all in, like, hopefully, I am for you in this video. And I did it. I took the leap and I did it. It was scary. I told my parents I were very. They gave me so much disapproval, and they were very upset with me. I had, you know, many of my thoughts of being mentors down that career path that just, you know, like, whether it be teachers or people that were like 10, 20 years in their career path of doing coding and programming and down the. Down that route, that everyone was pretty upset with me because everyone was, you know, trying so on board with me having this, what they thought was an exceptional life, when in reality, I saw that it was not that exceptional of a life. So I went all in. And going all in means something completely different. I started off with real estate, and going all in with real estate meant something completely different than when I went all in with YouTube. When it came to. When it came going all in with real estate, which is what I did at first, it meant, you know, finding the best tactics and the strategies to get more leads, finding more customers, getting the best at speaking to people over. Over the phone of, you know, trying to find good deals and flipping houses and then having great relationships and contacts with other real estate people and telling everybody that I was the real estate person and establishing my ground for when it came to YouTube. And I had to spend all day trying to come up with ideas and trying to figure out what's that next idea that I need to produce. And, you know, whether it be with, like, the SEO or all of these different aspects that go into, you know, making a viral video, I had to go all in and trying to find all these different tactics and strategies to become the best at it. And as soon as I went in all in with real estate, I was able to make my first 50,000, $60,000 with real estate. And, you know, for me, I realized it wasn't much, so, like, what I loved. But then when I came across YouTube and I really decided to go all in, like, I did some YouTube videos I started doing every single day. I went all in on that. I started to see huge transformation. And I went from, you know, zero to $4,000 a month in, like, 10 months or so of going every single day. And then I came across Facebook's YouTube channels, and when I went all in on that, I went from. I was committed to go all in for 30 days. And after 14 days of going all in and committing on doing business, YouTube channels, after having that experience with YouTube, YouTube and the real estate, and I kind of developed this grit in 14 days, I got to where I was doing a million views a month, which is equivalency of $3,000 a day. You could talk about getting a result from going all in. It's not always that. But, you know, all the failures that led up to that, all the con, all the bad ideas that I made that I tried to produce, all of these things that I did that I thought were the right direction, that were the wrong direction, that were failures, were actually a lesson in disguise that developed me into this person that was a highly capable and a highly efficient person that was able to do some pretty incredible things in my life. And so that commitment of going all in changed my own life. It made it so I was able to become somebody that was the YouTube. I was able to label myself as the YouTube person and the faceless YouTube person, because I went all in. And I was just like, this is my personality. This is who I am now. And now here's the thing, you know, what might be holding you back sometimes is, you know, the rejection of others and other people, you know, putting their own judgments onto you or their own beliefs onto you. And I get that because that happened to me. And we'll just kind of ignore that shark in the background because I don't want to pause this video. But what. What happened for me is I had so many people tell me, devin, you're a freaking lunatic. Devin, you. You, you know, good luck with all of that. But all of these people, what I realized that had judgments and they kind of gave me, you know, that kind of left out on my life during that time were people that were just insecure and just never took that leap for themselves. And they put those insecurities and those judgments that they had for themselves onto me. And I came to realize that they weren't really my friends. You know, I. I think all in. Does going all in and taking that leap and, like, a lot of these videos say, like, did your friends go leave them? I don't necessarily believe in that, but I do believe in spending less time with them. And the ones that are real friends that are going to be there for the long term, which I have some from college and school and some different people that I looked up to and mentors, the ones that stuck with it and were supporting Me throughout all of it were the people that were like real friends and people that actually had full support and weren't just putting their judge their own judgments and their own insecurities onto me. And same with but then what happened when as soon as I started seeing success is everybody then was like, oh Devin, I always knew you could do it. And I always kind of took a note, mental note on my head. Who were those people that were kind of like, oh yeah, I always knew you're gonna do it versus the people that were there since day one. We have all sorts of stuff flying over today, but here you go. What I'm gonna talk, what I'm gonna give you inside of this video are the mindset shifts that are help you have the most amount of impact. One of the mindset shifts that I had was first of all failure. You know, I think we grow up in school thinking that failure is like one of the worst things that could possibly happen in our lives. As soon as we fail, it's bad. We get a derogatory mark on our grades. We, you know, we fail the class, we have to redo it. We get disapprovement from our parents and from the others around us. But you know, the schooling system sets us up in a very wrong way. It sets us up as task doers and people that are good at working. It doesn't set us up as successful people because success and entrepreneurship, what it's all about is failing as much as you can and getting really good at failure. So that way you can learn the lessons through failure and become a more capable person through all this experience that we go through, that we take ourselves through. And so as soon as you start viewing failure as something that is just more so you getting the, you know, you getting the right of the badge of being an entrepreneur or a business owner or somebody that is successful and just realizing that these trials and tribulations are just a part of the journey. And realizing too that like any failure that you have, if you, if you view it through the lens of like when you're 80 years old, you know, let's say 60 years from now, what's that person going to think of the failures that you're going to go, that you're going through right now, she's probably laughing, it's probably like haha, that's so funny. Or she's laughing like that's so funny. I remember going through that. But those are some of the best days of my life. Or even view it through the lens of that. You have gone through this exact same thing, let's say 20, 30, 40 times already. If you ran out of money for it on time. Number one, it's like the end of the world. The world, the world is closing in on and around you, and it's very difficult to go through versus if you view it as, okay, I've already failed. I've already ran out of money 40 times. What's 41 time? And so that time of going through it, like, thinking it and giving yourself that mental stability of like, oh, I've already done this. A bunch of you start to realize, oh, it's not that big of a deal. And so some other mindset, set shifts that changed my life too, is all these people that are judging you and putting their insecurities onto you are just people that had their own insecurities and their own judgments that on themselves. If they were going through that same exact thing that you're doing and they're just putting those insecurities on you, it means nothing about you. It means everything about them. And people treat you how they kind of talk to themselves and how they treat themselves. People that are always like, the most successful, doing the most with their lives, the most abundant, typically are very encouraging. They are very supportive. They're going to even give you resources or lend you a hand and ask how I can help and how I can be of support or encourage you along the way. People that have, you know, that failed themselves and like, as in, like, they. They let their own mindset win, they let the little bitch voice win inside of their head, or the ones that are taking you down, that are tearing you down, that are giving you their insecurities. It's not easy to get all these hate comments or all these, you know, these people that you thought were friends telling you that you're a loser and you're never going to succeed in life. It's hard. And I've had hundreds, if not thousands of instances now like that at this point in my life, especially as I put myself out online and put my personal brand out there and put my name out there, I've had so many people try to tear me down. And it was just. I had to realize that it was their own insecurities that they were putting on to me. I don't see anybody that's winning, that's making millions of dollars a year. Like, I don't see you freaking Tom Brady hating on people, random people on Instagram. I don't see Tom Brady trying to tear down his friends. I don't see any of these people that are uber successful trying to tear others down. If anything, they just don't reply. They just don't say anything. They just move on. They just go on to the next thing, or they're spreading positivity. That's pretty much it, you know. So if anybody's, like, spreading lots of hate or anything like that, typically that means they have insecurities, and that is their problem, if anything. And so here is how we can go and finally go all in. And what it boils down to is creating clear goals, creating a detailed plan, and eliminating distractions. As long as you get good at these three things, there is going to be nothing standing in your way of where you want to be. So first things first, what I need you to do, and I'm not. I'm going to give you kind of like the, you know, not necessarily the, Like, I'm going to give you what I did. So what I did is I asked myself, who is it that I want to be? Who is the person that I want to be? And I went and I wrote down all these things of what I wanted to be. I wanted to have, you know, the cars, I wanted to have the house. I wanted to have the friends. I wanted to have the freedom. And so I wrote all those things down, and I asked myself, who is the type of person that I know or that I can find that has these traits? So what did I do? I didn't know anybody with those traits or any of those values or any of those things. And so anytime that I would ever run into somebody that had those things, I would ask them about it. So if I saw someone with a nice car, I would ask them, hey, what'd you do to get that nice car? You know, I kind of felt a little bit awkward, and I felt a little bit weird doing it. But I would go always ask, what did you do to do this? Because I wanted to figure out the map. I wanted to figure out what was the system, what was the thing that they did to get this beautiful house or this car or whatever it was. It was a nice watch or the beautiful woman, whatever it may be. And then what I also did is I studied those that had those things already that I wanted to have. So I find the guys on YouTube or Twitter or whatever it was, and I would find the people that had the things that I want, and I would study them. I would try to understand how do they make decisions? How do they think about things? What type of person are they? What is it that they study, what are the things that they do, what are their habits look like, what are their, you know, what, what do their friends look like, what are the thoughts that they have? And I would try to encapsulate those into my own self. And so for me personally, you know, I think I've had a lot of different mentors, but I think one of my big ones was he had like, you know, he had a Ferrari and a Lamborghini and Rolls Royce and he had a beautiful house in Beverly Hills. And he had all of this content online where he talked about all of these different mindsets and all these things that he was thinking about. And I started to recognize how did he talk about things, what were the things that he talked about, what did, how did he think about things, how did he make decisions? And after watching hundreds of his videos, I started to derive a formula of how this guy thinks about the world. Let me tell you, if you just watch 10 hours, 20 hours worth of content of somebody, you're pretty much going to have them. You're going to have all the insights as to, if you were to get on a call with them and how they view the world and how they think about things. So go find somebody. Whether it be my own videos too, I give everything away. Like, go find somebody, go watch all their content. That's where you want to be. Not just kind of where you want to be, but like seriously where you want to be. They have the lifestyle that you want and watch everything that they have and see if you can find a way to work closer with that person and figure out how it is that that person lives their life and how they view the world. So then you can start to view the world the exact same way. We need inspiration. You know, we're creatures of modeling and emulation and we are good at when we find other people that have what we want, we're good at what we're good at decoding what is it, the things that they do that allows them to have success. So now once you get clear on your goals, once you've found somebody to emulate, you want to create a detailed plan. So what that looks like is you want to set what are called smart goals, which basically these are spark, these are specific, measurable, and hey, let me actually look it up right here. There's smart goal. Let me just make sure I get the definition here. So a smart goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound. So what that looks like is you need to be specific with your goals and have something that. That's measuring. And what that means is you're focusing on the leading indicators over the lagging indicators. Leading indicators are things like, how many videos do I upload, how many. How many phone calls do I make? How many marketing pieces do I put out there? How many pieces of content do I write? Those are specific. They're measurable. You can just be like, okay, I'm doing 30 pieces of content a day every single week for 90 days. Okay? Or I'm like writing 30 tweets where I'm making for this channel. I'm doing, like, at least five videos a week every single week for, let's say, 90 days or something like that. That's, like my goal right now with this channel. That's my smart goal. So what that does is it makes it very simple. Every single day, I'm like, okay, what do I need to do? Okay, what's my smart goal? Okay, I need to upload five videos this week. Okay, how many have I done this week? 3. Okay, I need to do two more and schedule them out. Very obvious, very easy, very straightforward. So you got to figure out, what is it? That's the thing. That's the leading indicator. What's the action item that will get you the results? Because I know that if I do videos every day for 90 days, I will get to the point where I have an audience game built up. And with that audience, I know that I can have an audience that I can monetize with, I can send off to other things, or I can just feel cool and special and feel like I've grown in my life, and I help and impact people, which is more. So you know, why I do this channel right now is because I already make a ton of money, and I make 100 to $300,000 a month right now. And that is, you know, for me, I focus. Like, I just want. I do this for fun, to help a lot of people out. So that is. We got to figure out, what's your smart goal? What's your purpose of doing it? You know? And then instead of focusing on money, because the issue is most people are like, oh, and make ten grand a month. It's a fucking stupid idea. You want to focus instead on what are the things that will put me into a position where I can make $10,000 a month. For me, I'm like, I want to make a million dollars a month. So I'm like, what are the things that will put me into a position where. Where I can do million dollar months and for me right now, I'm like building a brand, getting my name out there, meeting lots of people, networking through the process, helping impact as many lives as deeply as I possibly can, and getting it to the point where it is obvious for me to make a million dollars a month, that is my game plan. And so that's what you need to figure out. And then the next thing, eliminating distractions. So what you need to do is every single day, you need to have a plan the day before as we set the goals, the smart goals. Now what we need to do is we need to have a day, a game plan the day before. And being intentional is the word, intentional about what it is that we're doing every single day. So what that looks like is putting your phone on, do not disturb, putting your phone in another room, taking all the garbage ass food out of your house and just only having healthy food. So you are not even, you don't even think about drinking or eating ice cream because it's just not even in your house. It's not even in your household. Anytime I have a bottle of wine in my house, I'm like, ooh, bottle of wine. Sounds like some wine sounds good. But when it's not there, I don't even think about it. Maybe I do, but then. And then I'm like, ah, it's so inconvenient. But so you got to figure out what's. How to make convenience and inconvenience in your life. So convenience, when it's accessible and it's easy to, to do it makes it extremely easy. So what you want to do is you want to make it convenient to work. You want to make sure your work area is clean. You want to make sure it's inspiring. Maybe you have your goals all around you. You just feel good in that environment and you make it feel like you're productive and it just feels exciting and it's convenient to go do. And then what you want to do is you want to make things inconvenient. You want to make the TV inconvenient. Take the freaking cable out of it, go put it in some random closet or give it to your neighbor and just be like, hey, if I come and ask for this, this cable for my tv, if you just give it to me, but I have to like come over and ask or whatever, you know, tell them that I'm doing some weird challenge or something. I watched a Tick Tock and I said this, but you want to find some sort of. You want to make the things that are not Good for your life. Junk food, drinking, television, video games. You want to make it extremely inconvenient to do that. Take the cord out, go put it in something, some random place right now. And then you want to set it up so it's super convenient to make progress and to do the things that get you closer to where you want to be. So set it up so your computer's plugged in, it's charged, you have a nice and clean setup. It's easy for you to make progress. So set clear goals, create a detailed plan, and then eliminate all the distractions. And the thing is, is you're not going to get rich overnight. Just eliminate that belief now. Just get rid of that. There's ways to get richer or rich faster, but there's no get rich quick. Get rich quick is. But get rich faster is legit. So get rid of this, oh, I'm gonna make $10,000 in two weeks. Instead, focus on your smart goals, getting that done, and then just trust that when you do the right work and you have the right vehicle, there's no reason you won't be making those numbers. There's no reason you won't be making $30,000 a month. There's no reason you won't be making a million dollars a month. If you, if you count, if you add up, you do the math of what it takes to get to that result, and then you focus on those leading indicators. For me, it's like uploading five videos a week every single week and being ridiculously consistent for that for three years. Do I want that to happen faster? Yeah, of course I do. But the ability for that to happen is. For it to just like, for luck to be involved is impossible if I never do the reps in the first place. So instead I focus on, like a conservative time frame while being optimistic. So I focus on having a conservative time frame. Okay, I'll do this for three years, and by then I should inevitably be at a million dollars a month, while at the same time I focus on, okay, what are the daily activities that I need to do this week, this month, this year, this quarter? And focusing on those things and focusing on the smart goals, what are the leading indicators, as we just talked about. So then the lagging at it, the lagging indicators, like money, like fame, like results, those things are inevitable because you just focus on the leading indicator so much, increasing the quantity and increasing the quality of what you are doing. So just, just understand that it is going to probably take you longer than you think. But it's Also going to happen way faster than you think. It took me way longer than I thought to get to $10,000 a month, but it also happened way faster than I thought to get to $100,000 a month. Like it just, the time frame just went by so quickly. When I reflect on the last like six years of my business career, seven years of my business career, it happened so quickly it's ridiculous. But when I was in year one, like whatever year zero, month three, I feel like I was like, dude, when do I get rich? That's what I kept asking myself. But after a couple years I was like, holy shit, I made so much progress. This is ridiculous, you know, but you have to find the thing. Like if you find the things to be grateful for, you'll find a lot. If you find the things that are indicators of not things going your way, you're going to find a lot. So you have to choose which ones that you look at. Otherwise you're only going to see the world in pain and misery unless you decide to look at, okay, what are the things that I got done? Okay, hey, I learned how to make videos when I didn't know how to make videos before. Hey, I got over, you know, I never knew how to make a sales call before, but then now I've made like a thousand, you know, focusing on those things and just trusting that if you keep focusing on the good things, finding things that you're grateful for, doing the things being very ridiculously consistent, there is no reason why you should not be where you want to be as long as you keep focusing on those things. So what I want you to do is I want you to identify now what is one area where you can start going all in on right now. I don't need you to go be some frickin Batman insane, you know, weird ash, like billionaire and rip the shit, like everything all at once because that's going to overwhelm you and it's going to be insanely difficult. Instead, focus on one thing I'm a big believer of. Instead of trying to go to the gym, just worry about putting your shoes on first and then getting in the car. And then like, just like you work against a little bitch voice by, by focusing on that one little thing that's in front of it and just focusing on that one thing. Focusing one step at a time and before you know it, you're on top of the mountain. So what is that one thing first that's going to get you to where you want to be? So whether that be Maybe you're just fat as fuck and you just haven't worked out for a very long time. You need to focus on that. Maybe your health is just going to shit and you're just not eating healthy. Maybe it's. You need to start that business. So pick one. Don't pick like all five things all at the same time. Pick one, go all in on it for 30 days, and then we can start. Every 30 days we can add a new thing that we're adding to the stack of this person that we're becoming. So figure out what that one thing is to go all in on right now. And then I want you, I'm going to challenge you to commit to one action today that will mark the beginning of your commitment. So if it's to start that business, I want you to, like, start that YouTube channel. Go start that. Go set up that YouTube channel right now. If it's to go get healthy, I want you to go to the grocery store right after this video. I want you to go to your kitchen, throw all the junk food away, go to the grocery store, the get some good food. Fill your food, fill your house up with all good food. I recommend going to Whole Foods or Sprouts or, you know, one of those really nice grocery stores because I get excited to cook and eat food whenever I go to those places. It's just the quality is so good. I just feeling so, so inspired to eat healthy. Or if it's like you want to take fitness serious, okay, go put your shoes on and go hit the gym real quick. You know, just go do it. 30 minutes, 45 minutes, an hour, it doesn't matter. Just go like, go do that and then, so then we can start that commitment now. So remember, going all in isn't about reckless risks. It's about strategic, wholehearted effort towards something that truly matters to you. Let today be the day you stop dreaming and you start doing. You've got this. And I can't wait to see where this commitment takes you.
