What it feels like to be wealthy

A speaker reflects on what wealth really means beyond money, drawing on visits to exclusive settings and contrasting material riches with youth, health, relationships, and values. The takeaway: you likely already possess forms of wealth you haven't recognized.
Okay, I got a little bit of a story time for you guys. So I went out to dinner last night in Newport. It's called Joey's. If you don't know Joey's in Newport. It's this, you know, this kind of extravagant restaurant in a way where it's like you pull up, they only have valet, really once you want to walk really far and you pull up and there's just Ferraris and Lamborghinis and Rolls Royces and really expensive cars that are at this place. And you pull up the valet. Valet guys are really cool. But you get out and just. It's popping. Like every night could be Tuesday, it could be Thursday. I went out on a Friday night. So it was, it was crazy. I think normally it's like a hour, two hour wait to even get a table. And we had a big party. We had like six of us. We had some friends that were visiting in town, friend who was out in South America for like two months or so. And so we went out to dinner and we get there and they got us right in. We just, we've been there a bunch, so they kind of knew who we were. We get right in and you show up. Everybody's got like designer clothes on, you know, it's classic. Newport's like, younger crowd and just a lot of money there and just all sorts of girls, all sorts of like fake stuff, you know, like a lot of Botox and fake tits and all sorts of stuff like that. And, and you get to this place and it's just, you know, we go in and like you look at the menu and like the cheapest thing on there is like $30. And it's like, if you get something on it, it's just like you get like two bites of food basically. And that's, that's how it works there. But you know, when we're there, we're definitely like the, the most like lit people there. Like, we just. The money stuff, it's nice and all that, but me and my friends, you know, we've been making money for a good amount of time and it's just, it's just more fun for us, I would say. You know, like, we just, we're there to have a good time, but when you're there, you just see massive amounts of insecurity. Just all these people that feel like they need to be seen a certain way and in a certain light. And you know, like, I'll listen to some of the conversations of some of the people there, they'll be like, oh, that's that type of car. Oh, that's a type of car. So there's like that crowd that's there and then there's the people that are just really rich that are trying to, you know, like the old dudes that are trying to get some, you know, the old money with like some sort of like young girl, you know, type of vibe there and that's just everywhere. So we have a good time, you know, around the time of our lives, talking to the waitress. She was like, like telling us some of the different stories of different people. She, she said we were like some of the favorite customers that she had. And you know, and obviously, yeah, she gets good tips from us and stuff like that. But ultimately at the same time, you know, it's just knowing like the other type of people that go to these places. You know, there's a lot of these people where it's like, it's a financially wealthy, like financially wealthy place. But if, you know, the like eight different types of wealth, most people are, are wealthy in one department, but they lack wealth in the other seven departments of wealth. You know, they don't have a wealthy love life, they don't have wealthy, you know, family life. They don't have a wealthy, you know, personal self worth. Like, they don't, they don't have youth wealth. And a lot of these people, it's, it's kind of, it's, it's kind of sickening to see. You know, I feel like a lot of people, especially if you're, you know, you're not in necessarily the financial place that you want to be, you know, I think it's very easy to be like, oh, I don't have money. So then it's just like, okay, I can't have wealth in any of these other areas in life. And, and you know, it's like you feel like you're lacking things. But I will tell you guys like straight up that when you go to these places of financial wealth, I would say there was some of the most unwealthy people that you will ever find at these restaurants. And then afterwards we, we get in our cars, we go drive over to this really exclusive bar and we get there just Ferraris, Lamborghinis, just everywhere galore. And just outside all these people wearing all this different clothes and just women that are just like, honestly, in my opinion, unattractive, like they just, they, you know, it just, it's like out of desperation there, it's all about like, oh, who's here? And, and just money. Everywhere and just like, you know, you see the old dude that's just like ugly with a woman that's just like, you could tell that she's just there for like the money. It's just, it's that vibe, it's that stereotype of like, you know, you hear these things in movies and you hear like, you know, stories of these places and that's these places that we went to last time. And I will say that other points in my life, other times in my life, let's say two years ago, three years ago, five years ago, especially seven years ago, I would have felt insanely insecure being at these places. I would have, I would have seen all this wealth, all these money, like all these fifty thousand dollar handbags and I would be like, I don't feel like I, I fit into this place. Like I would, I would feel like I would have insane amounts of judgment being cast upon me and I would just feel really, really uncomfortable. But last night I didn't feel uncomfortable at all actually. It was kind of like an interesting like feeling. Especially like kind of reflecting on it today. Like it was just seeing this kind of this, this extravagance all grouped together and bundled together in one place. And I felt like one of the wealthiest people there. I maybe didn't have the, the most insane amount of financial wealth there. Yeah, I make millions of dollars a year. But you know, like some of the people there, they make millions of dollars a week. And you know, it's like that, that's there. You talk to some of these people, you see these, you know, they have this material wealth, but also it's just like they also, you know, there's a lot of extremely wealthy people at this place. And I felt like one of the wealthiest people there because what I realized is that I'm one of the youngest people there. Like I, there was, I think I was actually the youngest person there. Me and my friends, like we're all mid-20s, nobody really has that wealth there in that sense of like the financial wealth. I know damn well 90 of the people there would trade all their financial wealth to be my age again. So I knew there was that going for me also. Just like the health wise, there was just a lot of unhealthy people, you know. Yeah, like there was money there, but it was just like the amount of people that like had like a physical health or you know, mental health. Like you can tell there's just mental health issues galore. No, I'm not saying this is a label for everybody. There and then you can just tell like just a lot of these weird relationship issues, a lot of like buying of dates. You know, a lot of you could just feel like, especially like I've seen the interactions of some of these different relationships being in different places like Beverly Hills or you know, Newport or Laguna or just like these really expensive places. There's just a lot of like unhealthy wealth. I'm not trying to stereotype everybody, but I'm saying like 70, 80% of these people, you know, like you might think like if you live in like a middle class or more like lower middle class or you know, more poverty place, I'll be honest, it's no different like where you are than it is in these places that are really wealthy. Like there is wealth there, there is financial wealth, but what is actually wealth? That is a question. I know a lot of you watching my videos, like you desire wealth, you have that desire of being wealthy. But I think a lot of us, we neglect the wealth that we already currently have. Like, I don't think a lot of people realize the wealth that you truly have. Especially if you're a younger person watching this video, if you're under the age of even, let's say like 35, 40, you know, you have way more wealth than majority of the people that have all this financial wealth. Because I realized like every person there that had money, like everyone was old, I was wealthier than them. I bet all of them would trade everything to be me, to be like my age, to be back at my youth, because they can't get that back. That's one thing that money can't buy is that. And so me being there, I felt more secure in myself than I think many other times when I've been in those places, I felt like I was inadequate. I felt like I was lacking, like I wasn't, I didn't belong there. But if anything, I probably belong there more than like a lot of these other people. You know, it's just, it's kind of like, it's, it's, it's this sad, it's sad and depressing and so how do we get you to that place of understanding the wealth that you have? Because I think like I said, a lot of us, we know, we go on to our phones and then we look up or go into our bank account and we're like, there's not that much money there or is not as much money in there as we would like, or we just don't feel that abundant wealth, like financially and what I will say is you are. Yeah, financial wealth is one of the pillars of wealth. But you are missing out on all these other areas that you can increase your wealth in or like that are maybe way more wealthier than you, than you think. I made another video on this channel talking about like the richest man I know. It was a video that was probably one of the lower viewed videos on this channel. But honestly I think one of the like, most meaningful in my eyes, which was the richest man that I know, he had like financial wealth, you know, not necessarily like $100 million net worth by any means or anything like that. But. But he had friends, he had connections. He had more friends than anybody else I know. Everywhere he goes, people know him. Every restaurant, every, every store, every shop, they know him. He's getting called all day. All friends are checking in on him, see how's everything's going. He, he. When it comes to his birthday, the guy gets like a 100 birthday cards. Like it's insanity to me. And then on top of that, like just. The guy is just happy. Like he's just one of the happiest people that I've ever met. And that's one thing that money can't necessarily buy. Like, yes, you know, like there's, I love that whole contradictory aspect of like money can't buy happiness. But it's like, you know, I'd rather cry in a Ferrari than I would like a Honda Civic, that whole philosophy. But a lot of these people in these Ferraris are depressed as. And I don't want that. Like they just, they buy all the things, they buy all the material things. They buy the Ferraris, they buy the watches, they, they buy the women, they, they buy their access to these things, these $10 million houses, $50 million houses. But they are lacking in the departments that matter the most. That's like for your soul. It's like you see these people with these financial wealth, but their soul is empty. They have nothing. Like there is no soul there. Like it's left their body gone like early or like a long time ago. It left their body. In order for them to even get to this place, they had to trade their soul for this lifestyle that they live. And I don't think a lot of people realize that. And I think, I think a lot of people feel like that's the price that you have to pay in order to become wealthy. And I am here to try to stop you in the tracks and thinking that that's what you need to do now. I think there are periods of time where you need to sacrifice things. I think there are times where you need to find a new version of yourself, where you realize that the old version of yourself is no longer serving you anymore. That is what I had to do. I had to realize that there were a lot of features of me that made me a great person, but there were a lot of features of me that held me back in life as well, that limited me from becoming a greater version of myself. There was many beliefs that I had that didn't really serve me anymore. There were, you know, these feelings of insecurity and inadequacy and this lack of abundance that held me back that I had to rewire. But what didn't change, that I am very blessed with when it came to my family and my friends and the people that I, that I grew up with, that I, that I really value, is that they give me a strong set of values to serve me. And knowing that there's a difference of values and there's a difference of beliefs and knowing that, you know, learning what are good sets of values to have to never let those things go, like treating other people how you want to be treated and doing, like, doing things for others and not being so selfish and, and doing things in the act of a greater good and, and serving your community and serving the people that you interact with. There is no price to pay. Like there is no price. There's no amount of sacrificing of those values that I realize that are worth it. Because as soon as you sacrifice those values, you're sacrificing yourself, yourself. You're sacrificing your soul, you're sacrificing your long term happiness because it's more important how you make your money than how much money that you make. And I think a lot of us get lost and confused in this trap of, you know, we, we're gonna go grind our way to up this corporate ladder, we're gonna go sacrifice our relationships, we're gonna go sacrifice, you know, like our, ourselves and our being and our values to kiss ass and, and do whatever it takes to work our way up this corporate ladder or to be in these rooms that are going to put us in higher financial positions. But in my mind, there's no amount of values that I could set. Like there's no set of values that I am willing to sacrifice. If that's what it, like if that's what it takes to sacrifice my values, it's not worth it to me. I'm going to find out another way and What I will say is there is another way. There were times when I could have made significantly more money and I could have burned a lot of people. There were decisions that I was faced with where I could have sacrificed my own kind of morality and my own ethics to make a lot of money. And I always chose to not do that. And that's why when I walk into those rooms and I did the hard work and I did the things, and I did not choose the easy route, but instead I chose the hard route. And when I'm in those rooms with a bunch of people that chose the easy route, that chose those ridiculous amount of sacrifices that just don't even make sense. Like, you don't see any amount of happiness. You don't see any sort of childlike features in these people whatsoever. They're freaking robots. These people are dull. They may have a lot of money, but they have nothing else, though. That's all they have. Some people. I love this quote. One of my friends told me this. He works with a, he works with a lot of really successful people. Like, as in like people that are extremely rich. They have the 50 million dollar houses and he landscapes all their houses and stuff. And they'll fly them out on their private jets to their other properties in another state to go do the landscaping there too. Imagine, imagine being a landscaper so good that your, that your employers fly you out on their private jet on their personal private jet to go check out your other, to go take a look at their other properties and to pick up work there. And a lot of these people are older, they're in their 50s, 60s, 70s, you know, widowed wives or, you know, guys that have sacrificed everything and are on their seventh wife and are, you know, have no relationship with their kids. They're all kid, all their kids hate them. And his, his, his philosophy that he shared with me really kind of changed my perspective, which is some people are so broke that all they have is money. Let me ask you, does that sound worth it to you? Does that sound wealthy that you have nothing but money? Yeah, I guess you can argue that, like, okay, you can like buy friends. You can go, you know, buy the, pay for these people to be around you. Like that episode of spongebob where spongebob has tons of money. He just pays for all these people. He's like, what, rich? And he pays for all these people to be around him and gives all these people lots of money and he builds up this weird ass like, yes, men kind of like circle around him. Does that sound worth it? To you, does that sound fulfilling? Does that sound full? Are you going to be laying on your deathbed thinking, wow, I lived a freaking great life? No, what's going to end up happening is you're going to be laying on your deathbed thinking, I am a terrible person and I robbed so much from all these people. Now this is. Let me, Let me find the balance of this with you guys. Money isn't bad. Money doesn't create ugly people. Ugly people create like ridiculous amounts of havoc because they have a really strong tool and they have a lot of power and they use it for the wrong way. But I also know a lot of really wealthy people that have insanely amounts of good that they bring to the world as well. There's both sides of it. You'll find just as many shitty, awful people in this world that are wealthy as well as just as many people that are doing good and changing the world and donating. Donating insane amounts of charity and bringing lots of joy to the people around them and transforming their lives around them and, and building having extremely healthy relationships with their wife and their kids and their family or their husbands and, and living a full life full of joy and, and. And happiness and, and childlike curiosity and that, that just like that. That presence to them, that they're. That aura that they're just a really good people, a good person. I remember meeting Robert Herjavec. He was. I went to dinner at this restaurant in Beverly Hills, it's called Boa Steakhouse. And I was eating some lunch with my friend, and there was nobody here at this entire restaurant except for me and my friend, me and my friend Cody. And we were sitting there eating dinner and I just. I look at this guy over here, and he was just the jolliest guy ever. And I was looking at him, I was like, that guy seemed really cool. And I was, I was looking at him, I was like, wait a second, I think that's the guy from, from Shark Tank. And so, yeah, I ended up looking up a picture of him. I was like, okay, yeah, that actually is him. And what I did was, is I told the waiter, I don't even think I had that much money at the point. At that point in time. But I, I told the waiter that I will, like, I wanted to buy for his lunch. It was like him and like a couple. I think it ended up being like $200. It was the most expensive lunch that I ever bought. They had like cappuccinos and coffee and appetizers and lunch and all sorts of stuff. And I heard their conversations. That picked up on a little bit. He was kind of mentoring this couple and kind of sharing those stories and lessons that he learned from. From being on Shark Tank and some of the stuff that was going on there. And I. We ended up having to go. We had to head out to, like, a meeting or something like that or onto the next part of our day. And so the waiter went and just told him that we paid for their dinner. And he get. He looked over at me like. Like the happiest guy. Like, the jolliest guy. Like, just so surprised and so. Just like, welcoming and just like. It was just like the look that he. The look that he gave me just told me that this guy was insanely grateful for what I just did for him, knowing that, like, damn well that he had more than enough money to. To pay for that. You know, the guy's like a billionaire. And he stood up and as we kind of stood up as well, and we walked over to him and he's just like. He's like, thank you so much. Like, I appreciate that. Like, who are you? Like, you know, what do you guys do? Like, so we told him we did YouTube. And my friend actually ended up making some videos about him and. And Shark Tank and, you know, making some Shark Tank videos and stuff. And we were talking with him, and it was just like, this guy's aura and this energy. Like, I don't necessarily like fanboy. Fanboy people, and I wouldn't say I'm like, huge. Like. Like, I idolize this guy by any means, just. Just. But his radiance of just his. Like, this guy was wealthy. You could tell he lived a full life. You could tell he's been through stuff. You could tell he's like, had his hardships and that he's been through a lot for sure. And. But he just. The amount of empathy this guy had, the amount of fullness this guy had, like, it was. It was. It was a feeling that I've never felt before in my life. I think I was like, 19 at the time. 20. I was pretty young. And just, you know, seeing that. Seeing that there's that side of wealth, seeing that there is more to this than just money and just the. The feeling that that guy is able to generate for people around him, and feeling this. This fullness of. This security of this just knowing who he was, it changed my life forever. Of knowing, like, seeing what the actual difference of. Of wealth can be and what the. You know, we hear of all these toxic sides that wealth can be. But hearing, like, you know, seeing and feeling what. What real wealth feels like made me realize that it wasn't just about money. It was instead, about, like, who the man is that you're becoming or the woman that you are becoming, and what is that person that. Who you are and who you're. Who you're becoming in this entire process and that journey that you were going through. And so we'll. What I will say is, like, you may not feel like right now in your bank account, you have the money that you want. And I get that. I felt that a lot. And I've even got to where I've had, you know, six figures in my bank and back down to nothing and then money and then nothing and going through those cycles over and over again. But what I will say is, even in the times when I had no money, I felt wealthier than I've ever felt in other times in my life because I realized it wasn't just about money. Money was just a side effect of the person that I was becoming. And money didn't have a chokehold on me. And instead, it was a tool that I was able to use to share my wealth and to express myself and to provide for other people who I had no need or like. Like, that, like, had. How do I say it? Like, to give to people that, you know just so freely and to be able to give, like, become this person and to give like Robert did for me is what I realized what wealth is. So what I will say is just like, kind of to tie it all back in, which is, what does it feel like to be wealthy? You have that inside of you. It's. It's like that. That time that, you know, your. Your mom told you that you. That she loves you, or your dad told you that she loves. He loves you. Or a friend told you that, that they love you. Or like a coach in a sport where they told you good job. Like, wow, you're really good at this. Or a teacher in school that told you good job, that you worked really hard for this person that you are or that person that told you that you're special. I know you. You all had somebody that told you that you're special. Somebody. It was a grandma, it was a mom, it was an aunt. Somebody told you you're special. If not, it's me telling you you're special and I love you. And that feeling that you just received there that you're feeling right now of remembering that moment, that's what wealth is. The money, the Material things, the accolades, all that stuff, that's just a natural side effect of you just becoming your truest version of yourself, of becoming the person that you deep down inside are like. Of you doing this hard work and just over time, of just not giving up on your dreams. Those. Those things will come. But what I will say is it's not worth any amount of sacrifice of values. It's not worth any amount of sacrificing of your. Of your soul. I get it. There's times when we got to work really hard, but. And. And we got to be in different seasons of our life. But what I will say is the wealth is inside of you already. Now all you have to do is figure out how to hone it and to share that wealth with the world. Because what good is wealth if you keep it all to yourself? Like. Like, that's. Like, people that are wealthy, they don't just have money sitting in a checking account. Or if they do, it's just like that. Like, money sitting in a checking account is making. It's. It's. It's making other people money. Like, it's sitting in the bank, and the bank is spending it, or you're putting it into investments, and that is providing more value to the world. And so just how money is providing value to the world of being a substance. So are you with, like, the person that you are, with the values that you have, with the. With the. The stories that you have, with the. With the. The presence that you have is providing to those around you, whether you recognize it or not. And so the sooner that you can realize that you have this inside of you, and that's who you are already right now, the sooner that you can realize that you're wealthy now, and the sooner that you can feel that. That security and that realization that, you know, money will come. Like, the way that I always say it is, you know, I'm a party worth over $100 million. I just haven't been paid yet. I haven't received my check. I'm already that person. I've just. I just haven't been paid yet. Like, I'm just waiting, you know, like, for that check to come in. Like, I'm gonna keep working and I'm gonna keep doing the things, and I'm gonna keep showing up, but I know inevitably, like, I'm gonna get written the check. And so that's the same exact thing for you. Like, you're already financially. This person. You just. You just aren't patient enough yet. You know, you're Just not there yet. You just, it's not your time and that's okay. The time will come, it'll inevitably come if you keep doing the right things, if you keep doing the things that we talk about on this channel. But the moment that we are in now, the present, today, every single day, you are wealthy. You have time on your hands. You know, you're wealthier than if you're 60, you're wealthier than an 80 year old person. If you're 20, you're wealthier than any, anybody that's older than you. You have more wealth than they do, especially someone that's 50 years old. You have significantly more worth than they do. Especially if you have a set of values that you haven't let go of yet and that you haven't sacrificed to, to go do things. You haven't sold your soul yet and you still have those values. You have wealth. What I will say is if you focus on the right things, the rest will come, the money will come, the things will come. I'll tell you that. Keep sharing your wealth, keep giving those, keep giving that gift to those people like I am for you inside of these videos and you'll realize just how wealthy that you are. You're able to get out of bed, you know, you're able to wake up and you have a day ahead of you. Let me ask you this, I have a question for you and then I'll kind of leave it off with this video which is if I could, like, if I could guarantee that you would make $5 million or they that like I could give you $5 million. But the cost that you have to pay for that is that you only have 24 hours left to live. Is it worth the $5 million? You have to end your life after 24 hours for the $5 million. Is it worth it? Obviously not. So no reason in feeling like you're less offer less wealthy because obviously you value your life. The wealth of your life is worth more than the actual financial amount. I know, I get it. Maybe you don't have the money that you want. Maybe you don't have $20 million. Maybe you only got 100 grand or 20 grand, 10 grand, thousand bucks, 100 bucks, $5, tune in. Maybe you're negative 3 grand. There's a lot of ways that you're wealthy that I don't think you've allowed yourself to, to feel. So I'm gonna leave you on that. So that's what I got. I appreciate you all. I keep saying this in these videos But I'm so grateful for you watching this video. I'm so grateful for all of you liking and commenting on my videos and sharing them and watching them over and over again. My goal is to just keep making these videos and to just keep being this. These subconscious thoughts that are running through your day instead of whatever other garbage that you felt that you're fed and programmed with. My goal is to program you to be. Become exactly the person that you're supposed to be. So thank you for listening to this for yourself. I appreciate you. So that's what I got. I'll see you guys all in the next one.
