You can change your life in 6 months, here is how to do it

A speaker shares how to transform your life in six months using inverse problem solving, SMART goals, and daily habits. He walks through a student's real transformation and breaks down how to turn big goals into actionable steps you can track.
It got pretty dark out while I was recording this video. Anyways. You can change your life in six months. If you're here, it's because you're ready to take control of your life and make some serious changes. Maybe you're feeling stuck in a rut, or perhaps you have big dreams, but you aren't really sure how to turn them into a reality. And this video is not just about making some wimpy changes and some sort of habit or some sort of notion template to change your life, but instead, this is for people that want serious results and serious outcomes. Because you're tired. You're tired of being inadequate. You're tired of not meeting the standard you know that you're capable of. And you're tired of missing the mark. You're tired of seeing people that are dumber than you, that are far exceeding you and making millions or living your dream life. And I get it, because I felt that way for a very long part of my life. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to prescribe to you what I did for myself to living my best life of making millions of dollars, driving supercars, traveling the world, living this dream life. We're going to draw a line in the sand today and say enough is enough, as I did not too long ago. So why six months? You see, in a study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, it was found that on average, it takes about 66 days for new new behaviors to become automatic. In that same study, they discovered that more substantial and lasting changes typically require three to six months to take effect. And significant life changes can be seen in six to 12 months. So it's not about being intense for the entire 180 days of changing your life. Instead, it's about focusing in on the first two months to establish those new habits to and then giving yourself the remaining four months to build on them and see the progress compound. So this is something that I've noticed in my own life as a business owner, as someone that really pushes myself to strive to do some great things in my life. I typically redefine myself and realign my habits and my goals and my vision every six to 12 months. And this constant evolution has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. So first things first is you need a clear vision of where you want to be in the six months. You want to visualize your ideal life and think about what changes you want to make. And you may find it difficult to come up with said vision, as I did so for myself. For a pretty long time. So let me walk you through my process because, you know, a lot of people, they're like, oh, just, you know, create a vision, create your dreams. But what if you don't know what you want? And, and knowing what you want, knowing what you want is the first step in the process you have. Not because you ask, not. Well, you don't ask because you don't know what you want. And so the starting point that I found is the best situation is using Charlie Munger's inverse problem solving process, which his process essentially is writing out the things instead of focusing on, you know, what are the things that you need to do to lose weight, and instead focusing on the things that you need to avoid to not become fat. And by knowing what you need to avoid, it becomes significantly easier to know what you need to do by just doing that. So instead of asking what is it that my goals are, instead I ask, what is it that I hate and what do I not want to be? I want to not be mediocre. I want to not make progress daily. I want to not. I want to not live an average mediocre life. I don't want to drive a Toyota Camry. I don't want to sit in traffic all day. I don't want to not leave a legacy. I don't want to have no accomplishments in my life. You know, you start kind of making a list of what are all these things that you don't want to be. And as you start making a list of these things that you don't want to be, it starts to kind of get the creative juices flowing of, once we start kind of eliminating things, this, then we can start seeing, okay, what's left? What are the things that we can do from eliminate after eliminating. So a lot of this will consist of, okay, so like, probably working a 9 to 5 job won't get me to where I want to go. Some people, it may. Most people probably actually won't. So maybe something like that. Okay, maybe, you know, like, I don't want to be fat, okay, So I need to be pretty fit. I want to have the energy to be able to do things. Then the list goes on. So as you start to, as you start to make this list of what are the things that you hate, what are the things that you, you don't want to be, then it'll be starting to become far clearer of who you want to be. So then this next framework that I apply, which is Warren, Warren Buffett strategy, It's kind of funny because they're Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett were business partners. But Warren Buffett's strategy is now make a big list of everything that you want to do. So go ahead, go write down like 30 things that are on this list. And then what you do once you have this list of 30 things is you want to pick what are the main things on there. And so since we're doing a six month sprint, I want you to figure out out of that entire list, what is the one thing on that list that is stands out to you, the foremost, that is the highest leverage thing on there, that if you do this one thing, everything else on there would become pretty inevitable that it would happen as well, or it'll kind of unlock everything, everything else. So whatever it is on that, that list, I want you to circle it, highlight it, whatever, then what you do is you cross everything else out on the list and you forget about it. You just focus on the one thing that is that the thing that is the most important and realizing that you can't do everything on that list. We have finite time. We only have so much availability of our ability of doing things. So we need to focus on one thing and then everything else will kind of figure itself out. For his exercise specifically, I think it's like three things that you do. But since we're going for six months prime, we just want to pick one thing. So now let's turn that vision into actionable goals. Now, I've tried everything under the sun. I've tried all these different productivity hacks, I've tried all these different habit trackers and all this stuff. And I'd like to claim myself as someone who will do something and then I won't stick with it very easily. But there is one process that I always revert back to that stood the test of time for myself and what I found as a common way that other successful people applied as well. And this is me going to masterminds and talking with people that are making tens of millions of dollars a year and knowing what they do as well. And that is setting smart goals. And now I know you, if you may have heard smart goals, listen up here in a second. But if you don't know what smart goals are, it's specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound smart. And so, for example, if your goal is to improve your health, a smart goal might be something like to lose 15 pounds by exercising three times a week and following a balanced diet. So it's specific, it's measurable, it's it's within reason, it's achievable. You know, it's setting decent expectations. It's not like you're trying to lose £50 in you know, whatever a month and it's time bound. So I guess the only thing I would add on there is like I'm losing 15 pounds in whatever the healthy rate of losing weight is, let's say like three months. So I recommend doing one of these smart goals and then what we'll do is we will start to kind of stack them over time. And even then, even now at this day and age where I'm at with my life of, you know, being pretty successful, I would say I still try to focus on like one thing that is thing that is the domino that knocks out everything else. So you want to start with one. So the next thing we want to do is we want to schedule it into your day, so and schedule it into your life and start kind of making it actionable. So you want to break down your goals into daily, weekly and monthly tasks. This will help you stay organized and focused. So for instance, I'll apply kind of like what I typically do for on a day to day basis is let's say you want to, your goal is to make $10,000 a month. This is typically too broad in general to just say I want to make $10,000 a month. So how are we going to make $10,000aMonth? Let me break it down for you like I would one of my students if they were to work with me to build a faceless YouTube channel. So on month one, what we want to do is focus on getting up and running. So what that consists of is we would want to pick a niche, we would want to find a strategy that is able to get us to $10,000 a month in six months. So we would want to obviously eliminate all the ones that it takes us three years to get to $10,000 a month and we want to eliminate all the ones that just aren't working right now. So we want to find the opportunities that are making $10,000 a month in six months right now. If preferably things that are making 10 grand a month in two, three months. So if it takes us a little bit longer, you know, we have a little bit more wiggle room in our time frame. So you want to find an opportunity, AKA pick a niche. Next, what you want to do is you want to come up with your first 10 video ideas. How do we do this? We go find outliers, we find videos that have already gotten hundreds of thousands or millions of views for other people. We want to make a big fat list of those, probably make fifty, a hundred of those. And then we want to pick the 10 best and apply it to our channel. Then what we want to do in the first month is we want to hire a team and then we want to post the first three to five videos. So week one is probably more so picking a niche and coming up with the first 10 video ideas. Week two is probably more so like hiring a team. And then week three, week four, it's about getting kind of the first videos produced and getting them out there and quality controlling them and reviewing them. So we took, we took this big goal, this big goal of making $10,000 a month. And then we collapse it down to, okay, what are we, what are the things that we can do this month that will get us to that goal of making ten grand a month in six months? Beginning. Ish. Come with video ideas, hire a team, produce the first three to five video ideas. You can do this with whatever it is that you're trying to do. Like I said, I'm just using one that I commonly use. So then in the day to day you're constantly like, okay, let's say you're picking the niche. Okay, today I'm going to focus on researching and I'm going to go find 30 channels that are kind of doing what I'm wanting to do. So you'll just spend all day doing that and then the next day, okay, what's going to get me closer to picking a niche? Then every single day you're asking yourself, what's going to get me closer to this weekly goal? Because what I found is when you're in the day to day, it gets pretty hard to get up and look at this mountain that you're climbing. Because if you're constantly looking at the mountain every single day and you're like, oh, is this getting me closer to $10,000 a month? It pushes the mountain further away. So we want to focus on the big mountain at the very beginning. And that's it. Just, okay, what's this big mountain we're climbing? Okay, let's break it down into, okay, what's the first month that we need to do that's going to get us closer to this mountain? And then what's this week? Okay, then today, and then the next day when you're reviewing your day, you don't look back at the mountain. You just look at, okay, what did I do yesterday? And is it closer to this weekly goal. I focus on weekly goals during the week, and then at the end of the week, I review the week and then I review the month. Like, okay, I got done with one week. Okay, how far am I towards this goal of this month? I still don't look at the top of the mountain until the month is over. Then when the month is over, I reflect on the weeks and then I. And then I don't focus on the micro as much. I don't focus on the day to day, I focus on the weeks, I review the weeks, I look at the mountain and then I look at the month. Then I, then I ask myself, okay, this month, what can I do to get closer to being at that mountain? And so month two, then it's about getting the first 10 to 15 to maybe 20 videos up, depending on the strategy that I'm doing. And then every single week I'm breaking it down. Okay, I got to get three videos up. Okay, and these three videos, what do we got to do daily to get closer to making those videos? As you see, we are collapsing. We are taking something that's a big goal and then we're making it actionable in a month, and then we're making it actionable in a week, and then we're making it actionable in the day. And then what it becomes about is we win the days. And when we start winning the days, we start winning the weeks, and we start winning the weeks, we start winning the months, and when we start winning the months, we're building massive momentum and we are working towards our goal. So that is the process. You want to figure out what it is, that is your thing. What are you trying to do? If it is make ten grand a month. There you go. I just gave you free blueprint. Or apply it to whatever other business model you want to do. You want to make it actionable, you want to make it measurable, you want to make it like attainable and setting the expectations right. Because you're not superhuman. None of these people that you see that are dumber than you, that are making millions, are superhuman. They just understand this principle of constantly making progress. And they are just dumb idiots that constantly make progress. And that's what you got to be. You just got to focus on what are the things that make it. Just as we were talking about earlier with the inverse problem solving, what are the things that make it impossible for me to not make process progress? And so that's what you need to do here. So then what we want to do is we Want to track our progress, we want to just every single day, every week, and then every month we want to evaluate our progress. I typically recommend like getting a notepad. I would grab this one real quick. I would get like a notepad and then I would just write out on it like all the way down from like every single month, like 1 to 30. And then just tracking that thing, that process that you did, just kind of making a tally or a check or just kind of writing out what you did that day. So then you can look at, at the grand scheme of things and then you can look to see how much process that you're progress that you're actually making. So if you've actually like gotten all the way down to, to step number 30, you know, and you look at it at the end of the month, day number 30, then you can look at the entire month and you can be like, okay, cool, I made three days. Like, you know, three days I made progress. There was this one day I didn't make progress. And it kind of forces you to look at the bigger picture. When I first started my first YouTube channel, that's what I did actually. I was shooting for a 30 day sprint, then a 60 day sprint, then I did actually a one year sprint is kind of how I adjusted it. And what I started doing at first is I would track on the first 30 or the first 60 days, I would track every single day that I would upload a YouTube video on my YouTube show. And every single day I would track, okay, I got this day done. And then I just, for a long time I just didn't want to miss a day. That was, that was what I was avoiding more than anything. Like, what I was focusing on was like, how do I not miss a day of uploading? Because if I miss a day of uploading, then that means I wasn't making progress towards my goals, because that's the one controllable that I did have. And so I would just focus on filling in all of these gaps of hitting every single day instead of asking myself, why am I not making $50,000 a month yet? Instead I would just focus on, okay, did I upload my video? Like, if I ever thought, why am I not making 20 grand a month yet? I would ask myself, did I do what I was supposed, like, what I had to do today? And that's what you need to focus on, is what are those things that you need to do? And tracking that. And so a lot of these productivity videos, they always jump into like, okay, like you got to have positive habits and you got to have these crazy habit habits. What I will say is habits are like positive habits and focusing on that and trying to become some superhuman and is bullshit. But instead, like, I, like, I think you should eat healthy, I don't think you should be an alcoholic and I think you should go to the gym and focus. But honestly, I don't, I don't think balance is real in life. I don't think it works like there is no such thing as balance. Like anytime I would have a balanced life, I wasn't making progress in any area. But as soon as I like said, I threw balance out the window and I just focus on one goal and then I figured out how to optimize around that goal and that's when I made the most progress and then when I just made progress in different areas of my life like health and wealth and love and happiness and those things. Now it looks like I live a balanced life just because I've just developed and gone all in in each of these different areas. And so that's kind of what I found is a better way of doing this. So right now, if this is, if this six month sprint is about wealth and getting rich, okay, let's focus on that. If this six months is about like girls and love life or guys, if you're a woman watching this video, then let's focus on that. If this, if this next six months is about your health, then focus on the health and then the other habits that you have. You know, let's say that you're trying to get to 20 grand a month. It's not about getting ripped right now, it's about making 20 grand a month. So what you need to do is you need to optimize for making 20 grand a month. And so how do you do that? It's just like what I found instead of trying to change all these things is if I'm trying to make money, I just optimize for what gives me closer to that goal and what allows me to constantly make progress. So that's where then the habits start stacking up. Because I just try to optimize for efficiency. And when I optimize for efficiency in a category, I naturally kind of just pick up these other habits because otherwise I don't have energy, I'm tired, I'm lethargic, lethargic. I have a tough time making progress. So I instead just try to find something that makes me feel better. So anytime I would run into a creative block and I'm not making Progress on my goals, okay, I would go on a walk, or I'd go to the gym, or I would go eat healthy food. Anytime I would eat unhealthy food, it made it hard for progress, so I would just start doing less of that. And it started to become much easier when I started to figure out what are the things that make it significantly harder for me to make progress. And I just avoid doing those things. So if it's watching television, watching Netflix, consuming porn, eating unhealthy food, or any of that stuff, I would just aim to do significantly less amounts of that stuff naturally, because it just got in the way of my goals. Instead of like, oh, I need to quit doing this stuff. Because whenever I found the point I'm trying to make here is whenever I found that I am trying to avoid this extreme thing, when I'm trying to just take this thing out of my life and like, trying to have this, like, insane amounts of. Of. Of discipline and making all these things the enemy and outcasting it for my life and saying that those things are. Are hell and all that stuff, which, you know, it is. It's. It's rubbish. But if I make it an enemy, anytime that I would ever, like, like, I would slightly slip up. Like, I would just. Instead of, like, instead of like, oh, I'm not trying to eat sugar, I'm not trying to eat cake, I'm not trying to watch porn, any of this stuff, or I'm not trying to gamble or whatever. As soon as I ate a little bit of cake, I just had a bite because I've been, like, eating so healthy and I've just been avoiding nothing and I just am outcasting all this stuff. As soon as I had one bite of cake, all hell would break loose. Then I'm drinking alcohol. Then I'm like, going and. And doing just the dumbest. I quit going to the gym. Like, it just, like, two weeks goes by and I'm like, just, what the hell just happened in my. So instead of trying to, like, avoid those things and saying those are like the devil, instead of just try to do less of them, instead of just trying to be like, cold turkey and, like, quit doing all these bad things that are holding me back in life, I just try to just kind of like, I just naturally, like, as I'm trying to just pursue a bigger goal and a better purpose, those things kind of just start to fizzle out of my life. So that's what I found is like, instead of trying to focus on, like, trying to eliminate all this shit. Just instead focus on just like, okay, what is it that I need to do Everything? What is the one thing that if I do this every single day, I am making more, closer progress to my goals and just focusing on that every day. And then. And then naturally, you know, quit drinking, obviously, that's. That's a given, like, quit drinking alcohol, stop smoking weed, stop doing drugs, and stop watching Netflix all day. And instead, you know, just maybe using these things as like, okay, rewarding yourself for making the progress. I will say, like, I was drinking pretty regularly. I was, you know, had some pretty nasty habits when I first started making. When I first got to making $100,000 a month. So it's not like you need to necessarily eliminate all these things, but just start doing less of it and just start being more intentional with the things that you're doing and being more intentional with your habits. And then over time, you can start stacking these habits. As you try to become healthier, as you start to try to become richer, as you try to become better in relationships or better with women or whatever it is, you can start to kind of then tack on these things that make you optimize you for these things. So last but not least, or the next step, which is staying motivated and overcoming obstacles, like I said, I just like to cover this point real quick, is these things are going to creep up on you. What I found more important than anything ever out of this entire process of changing your life in the next six months is just focusing on making those little progresses that are getting you closer to those goals. Everything else, we're gonna start to come naturally with it. You start to become competitive. You start to. You start to compare yourself to your day to the day before, instead of who you. Instead of these people that are outlandishly not even remotely close to you, and you start to actually make real progress. And so let me tell you about Tiana. She was one of my students who changed her lives in six months. She was somebody that had really no serious business success. And within six months, she went from, you know, having a job and making nothing online to now she makes over $17,000 a month. And what she did was she came in and she set a goal for six months. She said, in six months, I'm going to be making. I think her goal was $10,000 a month. And so after setting that goal, she kind of just like, put her. Her main life on pause. She decided to commit and going all in on making, getting to where she was making money in the next six months with her YouTube channel and what she started doing is she started surrounding herself with other people that were on a like minded journey. She joined a program that I have a community where it's a bunch of other people that are trying to, to build YouTube channels. And by no way, I'm not promoting this, I don't even have a link in the bio. I'm just using it as an example cause it's really pertinent. And she was surrounding herself with other people. Everybody was inside of there is building channels. She was asking me questions very regularly. And so every single day she just focused on making progress. And I remember like after a month or two she was very discouraged because she was getting some videos uploaded and they weren't really getting results. I told her, hey, that's pretty normal. It's pretty typical. Just keep, keep going, keep showing up, keep asking questions. Let's keep bouncing ideas off each other. Oh, let's keep revealing it as we go. And you'll just kind of keep picking up little things. And so this girl was incredibly consistent. Like she would show up at least like three times a week and she would always ask questions. She was someone I think that would ask more questions than the average person, which was good. Like she just was always trying to find a way to optimize and become better. And so I think around three months, four months she started. She finally had her first video that really picked up. And it maybe took her a little bit longer to get monetized than I would say most on YouTube or most people that I work with because most people to get monetized in YouTube takes forever. But it took her like three months to get monetized when normally we see it in like one to two months. And so she, she had her first video finally pick up, got like 100,000 views or so. She was able to get monetized. She still wasn't making ten grand a month, but she was starting to see the growth and the progress on this. And then I think it was around this time where she kind of really quit caring about necessarily the $10,000 a month part. But instead of just finding the fulfillment and the joy of making videos and making better videos and making videos that people that were actually providing value to people. She ended up like she was in like the health subject of YouTube. And so she started like buying books of these health experts. She started watching like reading all these blogs and articles and watching all these videos on health and just started to become in like enjoying the process of learning health, learning about it and just becoming more and more knowledgeable in the subject. And that translated to her videos that she was making. They started to just become better. They had better ideas behind it, they just had better substance and they were like better value was articulated out of the content. Um, and it was around month five that she finally had started seeing her first break. She like started to getting to where you know, she started having, you know, $10 a day, $100 a day. It got to the point where that last month of her six month journey, I think month five, I think she was able to, to make like. Yeah, month five she was able to make, I think it was like three grand, five grand or something like that. So she was starting to like actually see some money. And it wasn't until that month that she started seeing some money. And then month six she made $17,000. And I know it seems like a big jump and that's kind of just how a lot of these things work is you see nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, something. A whole lot of something. And that's pretty typical. That's how my journey was as well. Like I saw nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Okay, a little bit of something, a little bit more something, A lot of something. Like I went from making like nothing to $70,000 a month like really quick. And that's just because these things like, like a lot of the actual results, they take a long time, but it's just like, you know, it, the, the actual result realizes towards the end of our goals and, and most of the people, they, they quit digging three feet from gold, they like start doing something for a month. They do it maybe two months, maybe three months, but then they give up right before the results happen. And so that's why in this video, I'm telling you guys, six months, shoot for six months. And if you shoot for like the week to week, you're, you're like if you're trying to get rich quick, you want to make 10 grand in a week or whatever. I'm trying to lose 20 pounds in a week or I'm trying to have an amazing relationship in a week. There's like the habits, the person that you are, it doesn't change that fast. Like we stated earlier, it takes 66 days to become somebody with new behavioral, more a new behavior and a new version of yourself. And so for you to expect like insane overnight success in like let's say a week is unrealistic. But if you expected in a much longer time frame, let's say like six months, I'm not saying six, don't do six years, don't do 10 years. And whenever I talk to people that have goals like that, that's just ridiculous because Parkinson's law states that's like we fill the work in the time that we create. So if you say you're going to be a millionaire in 10 years, it's going to probably take you longer than 10 years and probably not happen. If you like, if you say, if you say it'll take six months to become a millionaire, you probably won't become a millionaire in six months, but you'll become significantly closer to becoming a millionaire in six months. So focus on like longer, like shorter term macro goals instead of like these, instead of these little micro goals and expecting ridiculous amount of change in the week to week or in, in small amounts of time, like a month or two. Instead focus on six months because habits change and behavior behaviors change in 66 days. And then for us to see the results of these behavior change typically takes like another three to four months after that. So by following these steps, you can achieve significant changes in your life in just six months. Remember, it's all about setting clear goals, developing positive habits, staying consistent. You have the power to change and transform your life. And it starts with the decisions that you make today. So thanks for watching. That's what I have. I appreciate you guys for watching this video. I know it was kind of like a little bit of a to the point video and also a bit more of a tactical advice, but then also kind of me just telling you my personal experiences and stuff. So I appreciate you guys so much. Channel has been freaking blowing up. It's been awesome. I'm excited to, you know, keep providing so much value to you guys. I genuinely appreciate the platform that everyone's given me on this YouTube channel. And my goal is to just keep helping us all change our lives. So drop a comment down below what you thought, if this like what you're going to do, what you're going to do over the next six months. And then what I want you to do is, is I want you to apply it and then I want you to check back in and check on Your comment in 6 months from now and tell everybody about the progress that you've made. So I want to see, in six months from now, I want to see you just obliterating, obliterating your goals. It's okay if you make a few mistakes in that process, but keep everybody posted, share your insights, share the development that you went in so we can all grow together. And if you're watching this video a year from now, maybe you'll see a bunch of people that have changed their lives below. So that's what I got. I'll see you guys all in the next one. Peace.
