Chisturile renale sunt des intalnite si majoritatea nu sunt periculoase, insa trebuie supraveghate

In this Romanian‑language interview, Mihail Pautov asks a medical expert about renal cysts, a common finding on imaging. The expert explains that about 95 % of renal cysts are benign and that the key factor is their growth rate. Small cysts should be monitored with an annual ultrasound; if a cyst grows more than 1 cm per year, a CT scan is recommended to rule out a rare cystic neoplasm. Pain typically appears when cysts exceed roughly 5–6 cm or are located near the renal pole, compressing the renal capsule, which contains nerve endings. Persistent pain and large size are the main clinical indications for surgical intervention. Overall, while most cysts are harmless, regular imaging surveillance is essential to detect the rare rapidly growing, potentially malignant lesions.
