A single-speaker YouTube video (creator: Mihail Pautov) arguing that most people consume sufficient protein but are deficient in dietary fiber. The speaker claims average protein intake exceeds recommended minima, that protein cannot be stored (excess is excreted or converted to fat), that fiber promotes satiety more than protein, and that commercial marketing favors protein products over fiber because fiber reduces consumption.

I've heard you saying that we don't have a protein deficiency. We have a fiber deficiency. The average U.S. person is taking about 1.6 grams of protein, so 95% are getting more than 0.8 grams anyway. Virtually everyone is getting excess protein because they don't realize that you get protein in normal food. You think it's only eggs and steak, but actually you're getting it. Every time you eat pasta, every time you eat beans, you're getting protein. And the other thing people don't realize is you can't store protein anywhere. Protein, you either pee it out or sometimes the body store it as fat, but you can't get it back as protein. It will just be used as fat. The vast majority of people are worrying about the wrong thing, and the reason they're doing that is marketing. Companies make much more money by selling cheap protein into things than fiber. And fiber also fills you up more than protein. If they do it too well, people eat less. So it doesn't work as a big commercial product. So that's why they don't do it. Sometimes being healthy is bad for the commercial aspect of it. They know they can sell protein in anything and people will buy it.
