A short spoken excerpt (YouTube video) in which Donald Burns warns restaurant owners that refusing to adapt will cause their businesses to fail. The speaker frames adaptation as necessary evolution and warns resistance leads to ‘extinction.’
Restaurant owners who refuse to adapt, who stick to their old ways because they're comfortable. They end up watching their dreams just crumble right before their eyes. They're trapped in a reality that no longer exists, fighting to keep things the same while everything else around them is changing. But here's the harsh truth. The longer you resist evolution, the closer you get to extinction.
If your restaurant only works because you work 80 hours a week, it doesn't work.
