Short conversational clip from a YouTube video by Donald Burns in which Will and Ruth exchange "warning labels" about themselves. Ruth describes herself as "driven and passionate," while Will emphasizes a binary coaching stance—"you're all in or you're out"—and a sign in his office reading, "You're on my side, by my side, you're in my way. Choose wisely." The excerpt highlights personal drive and a results-focused coaching mindset.
So if you came with a warning label, what would your warning label say?
Mine is just. I'm just passionate. That's it. I'm just.
You are passionate. Yeah.
I'm driven and I'm passionate and I just wanna. Yeah, that's it. That's my warning label. Yeah.
How about yours, Ruth?
Mine would be don't me.
Yeah.
Yeah, I know. That's so true of Ruth. Yeah. She'll call me. She'll call me, actually, Will.
So you've known me for a couple years. If you had to say, what was my warning label, would you say? My warning label.
Is you're either you're either with me or you're not with me. But if you're with me, let's go. And if you're not with me, just get out of the way. You know what I mean? Yeah.
I actually have. I actually have that little sign in my office, my other office. It says, you're on my side, by my side, you're in my way. Choose wisely. That's it.
That's the one.
Yeah, that's what it says.
Yeah.
You're on my side, by my side, you're in my way. And it says, choose wisely. And here's my thing. I don't care what you choose. I just want you to choose.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And same thing with coaching. You're either you're all in or you're out. That's the way I look at coaching. Yeah. Because my biggest thing is I get paid to give people results. And if people aren't going to do the work, this stuff, like, then just, you know, go find one of those. Go find that restaurant. Coach has only five hours. I mean, that's more your speed. Then, you know, you should find that guy and hook up with him, because that's a little bit more your kind of tempo that you need.
