Short YouTube video (Donald Burns) containing a brief dialogue between two unnamed speakers who identify humility — letting go of ego — as the primary leadership trait. The speakers reference learning from a consistent leader during a TRC program and note that ego has no place in their restaurant context.
What do you think is, like, the number one trait leaders need today?
So I really thought about this a lot for myself. We've learned a lot thinking that we had good leaders in place. Good leaders in place. And we've had one consistent leader in place pretty much through the whole TRC program. But there's been a lot of growth for all of us. And what I've seen is that our best leaders are the ones who have humility and will let their ego go.
There you go. That's really it. I've had a lot of trouble letting my ego go. We all do. But, yeah, there's just no place for ego in the restaurant. Yeah, you can't have that at all.
If your restaurant only works because you work 80 hours a week, it doesn't work.
