So what do you need to be successful in the restaurant industry? Is it great food and service? Now, I see restaurants with both of those go out of business all the time. Is it more marketing? I know a lot of restaurants with over 100,000 followers that close their doors. How about awards? Personally, I know a few James Beard Award winners that have declared bankruptcy. So what do you need? At its most basic level, you need three things. Number one, you need a real solid strategic plan, not just to open the doors and hope we get some business. Number two, you need a culture of accountability, or else you're just going to have a job and not a business. And the third thing you need is discipline. You see, discipline buys you freedom. Discipline allows you to do the things that you must do in order to have everything you want. Without discipline, the other two won't make a difference. And that's why getting a coach is critical. Even you need someone to hold you accountable and help you develop the discipline required to break free from your restaurant. Running your life.
