Donald Burns and a friend recall their favorite meal at the Peppermill steakhouse in Reno, where they had Steak Diane prepared tableside, French onion soup, and smoky old-fashioneds. They discuss how that experience set the standard for fine dining they've chased ever since.
So you guys been traveling a little bit and stuff like that? What do you say is, like, the best meal you've ever had? Oh.
I've got the Diane. There we go. Steak Diane. And it's in a. It's in a restaurant in one of the casinos in. In Steakhouse at Peppermill. Yeah. And it's super. It's fantastic. They have the best French onion soup ever.
You know, they come. They come right to your table. They cook your steak right at tableside. Do they really?
Yeah.
Oh, that's really cool. Steak Diane's a fun steak, too.
Yeah. So it's. It's a lot of fun. And I always thought it wasn't my favorite. Well, I knew it was my favorite, but I thought it wasn't my favorite. We had it again a while back. I was like, yeah, it's my favorite.
The whole experience adds to the meal.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah. That tableside stuff is like that. That's a showstopper.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah. I probably had the best drink I've ever had.
And it was taste.
Served at the side of the table also. Really? At that place? Same place, yeah. Smoky.
