Excerpt from a YouTube video by Donald Burns ("Turn Jobs Into Careers") advocating that businesses in college towns provide students with hands-on, real-world experience by involving them in core operations (accounting, marketing, communications) and meetings with external service providers, effectively offering internships that prepare students for future careers and benefit the business.

This is a relatively new line of thought for some of our company's going based on the new people that we're hiring. But you know, they want to be successful. So why do I not give them the tools to be successful? Whether it's with our company or with somebody else. We're college town, have a first class university that's a mile away from our business and there's a lot of students over there in different fields. What we need to be doing is trying to tap into that and you know, give them, let them be service. But let's give them some real life experience as well. Let's, if you're an accounting major, start having you work at doing our books and working in putting those systems in place. And if you're a communications major or a marketing major, get you involved in that side of our business as well. Involve you in the meetings that I have with, you know, the accounting firm that does our books. Why put some students on with us and kind of give them a little bit of an internship as well. So when they, you know, graduate, either, you know, our company's big enough that we need them hopefully, or when they go to go get a real job, they or another job, they have the option of saying, hey, you know, I was a bookkeeper for this farm for two years while I was in college.
